I read in here all the time about the crusades of 1212 AD, and how Christians killed ten's of thousand of people...right...is that fair?

What about those Atheist who have commited murder.

Such as:

Chairman Mao: A very out-spoken atheist who also murdered 200 million people many for their religious belief

Joesph Stalin: Who said Christanity is for the weak a very devout Atheist who murdered 70 MILLION.

Fidel Castro: We all know how tolerant he is to others of different belief than him.

I will await the Atheists responses to this question. Good question by the way.

As you can see the Atheists are not good at defending themselves when it comes to the heinous crimes of their own.

Notice how they use Chubacca Defenses. They cannot answer because that would mean that they are not as superior as they pretend to be. Great Job.

And you forgot North Korea and Kim Jung Il.

And Pol Pot of Cambodia.

And the Atheist government of Laos.

Mao, Stalin, and Castro did not kill a single person in the cause of atheism. They killed for one purpose, and one purpose alone: To eliminate all possible contendors for power.

Stalin and Castro did not merely target religious groups, they actively targeted freethinkers as well...artists, teachers, thinkers who did not fall in line with their authoritarianism were executed just as enthusiastically. Mao's victims were even more expansive. Young men, including those who fought for him, were all considered potential insurgents. Millions were indoctrinated or killed.

In no case were these men killing in the name of secular humanism. It was a persuit of personal power on a grand scale. It was an atrocity that must never be forgotten or allowed to happen again just as Adolf Hitler's madness was.

People create war and commit murder in the name of religion all the time. This is because of intolerance in the world. If everyone just accepted the beauty of diversity, there would be a significantly less amount of suffering. Yes, many people died at the feet of Christianity. Yes, many people died because of Communism (which is not synonomous to atheism, just like Hitler is not synonomous to Christianity). Yes, many people died because they did not believe in Islam, Judaism... any other world religion.

Firstly, murder is terrible, whether its commited by christians, atheists, whoever. Secondly, these examples of murder (involved people who happened to be atheists, but not in the name of atheism). The crusades and many other christians have murdered many others, in the name of christ. They then have the ordacity to preach to others about "thou shalkt not kill" and all that crap.

Its because christians are so bloody self-righteous and think that they never do wrong, that their crimes are publicised. The other examples you have given were for political reasons (although still not right)

It just goes to show you that people can do terrible things regardless of what or if they believe. It isn't the faith or lack of faith that causes someone to commit evil acts. It's the individual that makes the choice and then finds some peabrained justification. On the flip side of the coin, there are many charitable atheists, agnostics and people of faith in the world.

Atheists are not an organized group or doctrine ... they are simply the antithesis of theists as a whole.

Men often do bad things without regard to religion, but this should not be attributed to atheists as they are not a group ... they are simply individuals.

If you didn't read it, then how do you know about Castro, Stalin or Mao? Obviously, they get their press time, too. And why does it really matter? I mean, murder is badno matter who commits it.

So Mao, Stalin and Castro are all Atheists. Did you happen to notice they are all Communists as well? Or did that not seem relevant?

Why do people care about crusades that took place so long ago?

atheists don't kill people because they're athiests. Christians killed people in the name of christ. an athiest has never killed in the name of atheism. I think Fidel is atheist.

**edit - my bad**
