The location of Perth doesn't specify Australia, UK or Canada. There are probably others too but I'm in Australia's east coast & traveled to Australia's west coast city last September-October. We are ALWAYS on a shoestring budget & wish we had the energy we had when we were 'middle aged'. Our 3 week stay was at The Ambassador Hotel Perth, just a few doors away from the higher-priced Hyatt & Sheraton. The most expensive part of our stay, of course, was the 'room rate' but we got a suite for the same price as a result of calling the hotel direct to make our reservations! It was a reasonable rate in the 1st place & the suite made it real sweet! The location made it very easy to take full advantage of the 'Central Business District (CBD) Transportation Cats', a very handy system of FREE buses every 5-20 minutes within the heart of ALL Perth, WA attractions! We were surprised to realize how far we could go! Shopping Centers/Malls, riverways, parks, museums, theatre & restaurant districts! The buses are modern Mercedes-Benz & color-coded for easy use - Red(Restaurant District) Blue(CBD) Yellow(Stadiums&Parks). There are CAT stand monitors which show the minutes before the next is due. It costs bux to travel to neighboring places like Fremantle but the sights & sounds of Perth[WA]are very convieniently situated along the CAT routes, waterways & clean streets. It's a very nice town with all the culture you could ask in any major city but the entire 3 weeks were spend in a flurry of activities such as the Perth Royal Show, Fashion Show Week & of course, letting my bride drag me into every shoe store from Fremantle to Cervantes, up the coast!
Hope this Perth trip information helps you enjoy WA! Sorry if you meant somewhere else!

Have fun and just go. Don't think about what you can't afford, think about how much you will enjoy the time there no matter what you do!
