what would i say?
"You and me, we had some fun together didnt we?" small smile. "But you know i dont blame you that you left, i understand it was a hard time for both of us. I just hope that who ever has your love now, is a better man than i could ever be because you deserve nothing less. I love you hun, and i wish you all the happiness in the world."
the rest would be too deep and emotional, so ill keep it at that.

What's your objective? Is she still bitter with you over the break-up? If she is happy with her new relationship, then don't stir things up for her. If she's still single and not attached, then by all means write her a sincere letter, expressing what you mentioned here. You have nothing to lose.

Well, the children didn't want me to contact her as she became distrustful... we couldn't trust her but I wrote her mother, as I wasn't afraid around them and that was a nice feeling. I commended her on her fine family and was glad that I enjoyed them for that time. I was very sincere. I also promised that I would stay put and not pester them. Grin. I just wanted her to know that I valued her. I do, and I do miss them sometimes.

The one nice thing? "You really do look so good on the other side of the street where you found the grass greener." How's that?

that's pretty tough. although i am a very nice and gentle person who would easily say something nice to anyone, saying something really nice to my past lovers is quite hard.
well. i guess, it would just be "thanks for the memories."
