I'm always amazed how people say the bible contradicts itself all over the place. YES..I've gone to dozens of atheist web-sites and read what they say...EVERYTIME... they use these scriptures out of CONTEXT...any first year bible student can easily punch holes in these allegations made against the bible. It's really easy to do...quote over here ...then quote over there to give the illusion there is a contradiction.
You can easliy do this with any book....it's simple childs play. If you have ever attended a debate on atheism vs. Belief..you'll see the atheist never goes there...they know very well they'll be shoot down very easily. Madlin Murry earlier in her career used to do that until she was torn apart by biblical scholars..she quit if you notice. The tactic is to give you 100's of so-called contridiction...and say here deal with it...it changes when you go through them one by one...and the atheist begins to sweats and then changes the subject very quickly.

You are absolutely dead-on. The biggest sites for atheism out there are so full of holes its not funny, but the sheeple flock there and take everything at face value and believe it, not looking into it themselves and using their brain.

Now for my buddy sadistdave:
As your other past atheist friends have done, you have not included all the relavent scripture before or after those verses. One quick glance CLEARLY shows He was talking to His apostles for them to go out in to the world and preach the gospel. They did this and many miracles were done by the Lord through them. OF COURSE He was not referring to us! The foundation of the church (that of Jesus) was built by the works and testimony of the apostles and prophets. There is now no more need for modern day apostles or prophets as the foundation is built and we are only to edify it. That's why you hear about some of these people taking up snakes that get bit and die from it. They misinterpret this too!
But Dave, you knew this. That's what I love about you man. You are driving out issues that your previous atheist friends have brought up, knowing the answers yourself, for us to clarify. That's AWESOME of you man. To think you were once an atheist and now a closet Christian. It's okay to come on out buddy. Keep up the good work!!

Even christians practice that their are contradictions in the bible. That is why there are so many different christian sects with different beliefs, ALL based on the bible. Just have a look around
There are so many errors, contradictions and scientific absurdities in the bible, you would have to be a blind sheep to be unable to see them. Either that or you dont actually read it too well.
I think the problem is you read it in such a way that you will ALWAYS give it excuse. This means that you will never see a contradiction. Face the facts buddy, the bible is full of contradictions.
i am not about to give you ONE contradiction here either. Atheist and other religious people and even many christians find it very difficult trying to show reason to the biblical literalist.
No one in the bible ever had a bible.

seek truth

How many Christians also take Biblical text out of context? It's just how it's read and used these days.

Anyway, I'm a senior religion student, and a lot of the "contradictions" are there because the Hebrew Bible was sewn together from at least 4 different sources that originated as oral tradition. There are also weird contradictions in the New Testament, especially in the letters attributed to Paul because Paul didn't write all of those letters. It was tradition of the time to write in the spirit of others, and many other people did it that way as well.

The Bible contradicts itself through the different retelling of the same stories. The Bible was commissioned, written and edited by man. The omittance of any book from the original Bible in a replication is a basic contradiction of the values of truth taught in the Bible. The Bible teaches peaces, but this passage has always made me wonder.

Book of Matthew 10:34
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword

I believe in God, but I don't believe in the Bible.

Matt 24:25, Mark 13:30, Luke 24:32 ". . . this era shall no longer pass until those form of issues be carried out." Jesus became telling his disciples that "temple could be destroyed, wars, calamities, fake prophets, and then he might look above the cloud in triumph in the time of the top days, until now the death of his disciples." those form of have been reiterated in all the three gospels. yet his disciples died 2000 years in the past. end days did no longer take place, and Jesus lied approximately it or the gospel writers lied approximately it. in spite of the case, it somewhat is the suitable contradiction of all. using fact Jesus isn't a god otherwise how might desire to a god be incorrect approximately his own prophecy? Or the bible is in elementary terms a e book of lies! EDIT: do no longer attempt to apply sophistry on on line communicate board. THIS era stated the era of his disciples, and there is not any different meaning. Such denials as quickly as back proves that Christians lie just to justify their god.

To understand the bible you have to study deep!
The bible was written on 3 levels, most can only read the 1st level and that is where they think they see contradictions, and falsehoods. But even on the 2nd level most go away and on the third level of study there is no contradiction!

The bible has been rewrite many times along 2000 years. So of course a lot of scriptures have been changed. It has something to do with liberalism, where people did not agree with the scripture laws and changed it to suite their need.

Actually, you're a little off base there. The Bible is filled to overflowing with contradictions. Unfortunately, the list of scriptural inconsitancies and errors is about the only thing that religious scholars will address. They refuse to respond to in depth questions about the errors and inconsistancies, and their meanings.

I have a standing offer for anyone of faith to perform a simple task that Jesus Christ claimed was a gift of the faithful, and a sign of his word being the true word of God.

According to Mark 16:17-18 Jesus stated that the faithful would be able to perform certain miracles as a sign of his glory. Those signs are casting out devils, speaking in tongues, picking up serpents, drinking any deadly thing and remaining unharmed, and laying on of hands to heal the sick.

I have a gallon of something for any follower of the resurrected dead-guy-on-a-stick to drink... anyone who can do so and remain "unharmed" will get an instant convert to the faith. To date, no one has taken my offer to show me the power of Jesus and prove his un-holy word as being the Holy Word of God.

Not surprisingly, all I get is people backing out of my offer with some retarded attempt at rationalizing their fear of death with more Biblical nonsense.

This is a miracle that Jesus himself, your resurrected madman, said you can and should do to prove his glory to the world. YOUR GOD SAID YOU CAN DO THIS AS A SIGN OF HIS COVENANT WITH YOU!!!

Since no one has enough faith in what the son of Moses invisible friend tells them, why should I, or anyone else believe there is anything at all about him which is worthy of total, mindless faith? I'd say thats one heck of an inconsistancy!
