get your psychiatrist to understand that your depression symptoms come from your very toxic parents and that you need to break away from them without them thinking that it is just your "negative thoughts" ie that those thoughts are not part of your "negative thinking/irrational thinking" symptoms but is in actual fact your reality and is what will make you feel better???? argh this is so so important to me!!!! .........
please only those who see psychiatrists themselves or know enough about things like this reply thanks...

maybe you should tell your psychiatrist that thats how you feel. That it is important for you to get away from them and that, even if he doesn't believe that it is the CAUSE, at least he understands that it ADDS to your already depressive state of mind that you have to live with them and that you need an environment WITHOUT ANY KIND OF PRESSURE, and that this environment is pulling you down.

I'm sorry I can't help you more...If he doesnt understand you, you may change psychiatrist. I did that until I found one that I think understands me and does what I want. I was tired of the psychiatrists who didn't understand me.

I am sure that your psychiatrist will spend some time talking with you by yourself, with your parents not in the room. This would be an opportune time to tell your thoughts to your therapist.

Just say it out loud. I'm sure that any reasonable therapist would have to take note of it and give it good consideration.

Well if you communicate as poorly with your psychiatrist as your parents you probably wont get them to understand.

If you know yourself really well, and that you are sure that you're not out of your mind, well, no one really could tell you or convince you what you are. so when dealing with shrinks, i guess it's better not to lose your cool. they may be annoying and pretend to know everything but still, no matter what you say, they're just trying to find a way to help you.
