Time is the only thing that's going to fix it after the fact.
As far as prevention, there are many speculative ideas from drinking lots of water, to taking certain dietary supplements, to avoiding drinks with a higher "congener" content (like whiskey), but the fact is a hangover isn't caused by one single physiological principle and science still doesn't yet know the perfect preventive beyond simply not consuming much alcohol at one time.

It's easier said than done but try a little preventative maintenance before going to bed. Drink some kool-aid before going to bed. The sugar water helps to restore hydration.
Now if you have a set of cohones, do the above and if you still have a problem the next morning then grab a hot beer and turn up the stereo (recommend a little Led Zeppelin or A/C D/C) and drink it fast. It gives you a little of the dog that bit you and the belches feel good..

Take a Pepcid AC prior to drinking, it helps prevent the hangover, somehow.

Drink some more whiskey, after you get a buzz you will forget about your hangover. hahaha. Or, . . drink some milk, water or Gatorade. Warm soup is also good. Then take a shower.

nothing, just suck it up
however, as a hangover is the byproduct of dehydration, drink lots of non-alcoholic fluids will quicken your recovery, I hear gatorade works wonders
