I do not understand how a book can be writen and it is suppost to be the all for humankind to live by. The bible contradicts itself and has had a king re-write it. And they banned some of the books from the bible because they were too realistic I guess is the way to say it. The book is already so big why not let all the books be in there that way people have more to base there oppinions off of. Yeah some of the books are not pretty are what a pope would want in them but if they were written and found after thousands of years then they are meant to be seen. Life is not always pretty so why sugar coat it. Let mankind see it for what it is.

The Bible is full of errors, inconsistencies, lies and outright fraud. Worse, it has terrible grammar!

Sadly, it is a book of faith. As such, it's believers are "untouchable" where logic and rational thought are concerned. They are a lost cause, and will never see past the 30 verses or so they are taught ad naseum in church each week. Most of them go to Sunday school like cows led to the slaughter by their wallets, listening to preachers with deaf ears and watching the world through big stupid cow eyes, chastizing mankind for every percieved flaw. Vomiting up a dozen or so verses learned by rote is about all most of them can handle.

Let them have their illusions, they brought it on themselves. Their book condones murder, rape, hatred and bigotry. Since they fail to see that, they will continue to rationalize any notion about their "holy" book that makes an ounce of sense.

The Old Testament came through God's chosen people, Israel. God chose to reveal Himself to the world through Israel. God set a high standard for Israel to follow so that they would be a light unto the world. Once Jesus came, he fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies and the Law of the Old Testament. Then, inspired by God, the apostles of Jesus wrote of Him and His truth. This became the New Testament. The reason some books were not included in the Bible is because they were contradictory to what the Bible teaches or they were not qualified as God-Inspired. No where does the Bible contradict itself. If God is all powerful and desires to speak to His creation, why couldn't He have done it through human hands inspired by Himself. Then being all powerful, He could ensure that the final product is what He desired and He could preserve it throughout eternity. Look at the prophecies in the Old Testament and how they were fulfilled. Isaiah 53 was written several hundred years before Christ, yet it describes Him perfectly. As for a king rewriting the Bible, I'm not sure what you speak of. Maybe the King James' Translation. If translations bother you, you can always learn the Greek and Hebrew and read it in its original form. The truth is: God knows you and desires to have a relationship with you if you are willing. It doesn't hurt anything to pray and truly seek Him. God Bless!

We do see it all. If you are referring to the Kings James version of the text, all the King did in those times was retranslate it into the common language of that era. Older translations and the original hebrew text can prove that nothign has ever been add or removed from the true Bible. Some people in modern days have added different "books" and changed it, but those are always named differently and are not accurate. True versions are NIV (New International Version) NASB (New American Standard Bible) and a many others.

There's a lot wrong with the Bible....but I agree with your point entirely.

Most Christians are completely ignorant of the fact that the canon they read was decided on by a bunch of men hundreds of years after Christ walked the earth.

By all means, Christians...read the Apocrypha.... see what was discarded from what you insist is the infallible word of God.

And for all of you praying for the apocalypse... do you know how long it was before Revelation was finally accepted?

But to take it a step further....if there was really only one book that God wanted everyone to read and believe, do you really think we'd be arguing about it? God would be the perfect author....able to make himself completely clear. There would be no questions and nothing would be subject to interpretation if God wrote a book. Everyone would believe it.

Your questions are valid, however without turning this into a long drawn out dissertation I can only now say know the sign of the times. The church, the men behind the church, and the many sects practicing early christian belief for they are many, and they are vast and varied. Okay.

Don't believe that. Christianity has been the most highly scrutinized religion ever. People have been trying to disprove it for over 2000 years-to no avail. There have been more ancient documents, artifacts, and structures to support the validity of the Bible than any other text. Every time something comes us to disprove part of the Bible, more evidence is discovered to disprove the disproof. The books in the New Testament were written by people who actually knew or saw the works of Jesus. The gnostic books that were left out of the Bible were written hundreds of years after Jesus was crucified. It's like someone 2000 years from now wanting to know what you are like. Should they read a book written by your mother, sister, or best friend...or should they read a book written by your great-great-great-great-great-great grandson? They should read a book by someone you actually spent time with, of course.

That's because the other books didn't support the point of veiw the emperor (and later popes) wanted to push. Other holy books supported Gnostism, Christ as a rabbi (not God on earth), or other veiws.

One important question:
What are we to make of Jesus saying that a "new covenant" is formed between God and man by virtue of his life. For example, Jesus said, explicitly, that "eye for an eye", a principle to guide behavior from the Old Testament, is no longer in effect. Instead, Jesus said that the new covenant calls for us to "turn the other cheek". (I.e. instead getting revenge in equal measure to the offense, we never get any revenge and merely take any offense given to us.)

This means the rules have changed. These are God's rules. How do God's rules change from "eye for an eye" to "turn the other cheek"?!

Maybe the first page says "To my darling Jenabel, The following story's are fiction and not to be taken serious".
That would give the pope a bloomin heart attack.
