I have a girlfriend of 2.5 years and only 1 cat.

Because those are all the atheists you know. Why do people always generalize people into catagories? There is probably more atheists who aren't single and don't have 50 cats then there are atheists that do. Actually, I've never met an atheist like that yet.

The only people that I know that have a bunch of cats (never 50) are usually Christian. I know one Wiccan family that lives in the country and they have a bunch of cats that move into their farm too.
The Atheists I know are all dating in long-term-relationships and live in places that don't allow pets. I do know one older Atheist, and his is single, but he has a dog.

The majority of people from any culture and any group are married.
Therefore what you say cannot be correct.
