it was probably not as long as 40 years. 40 seems to be a popular number in thebible. probably since that was thenatural life expectancy of peopleback then. so nothing more than 40 years ago could be witnessed by anyone alive. But, guaranteed it was longer than 40 days, since they were a very large group and would have taken a day to even manage 5 miles at the pace of the slowest .

It was 40 YEARS. Because of their disbelief and doubt they wandered for 40 years.

I assume you are referring to the forty years mentioned in the book of Exodus. Yes, you can walk from Egypt to Palestine in 40 days, but the point of the story was that the refugees did not know where they were going, so wandered more or less aimlessly for forty years. But I do not believe any part of the story.

No, it was 40 years because that's how long it would take for the adult generation who originally left Egypt to die off (which was their punishment for not trusting in God to fight for them when they reached the promised land).

If you are talking about the dessert, then I would have to think it was true if it's written in the bible. For all we know, Moses could have had a really bad sense of direction! Most men do...no offense.

They were not walking for forty years.

God cursed them and forced them to stay outside the Promised Land for forty years until everyone in that generation had died .

They complained alot and were not thankful to God when sustained them, that is why He made them stay outside the Promised Land for forty years.
