Because you're hard drive could crash and you will lose all of your important data. Usually that back-up file would be copied onto a disk.

you should make a full back up of the hard drive coz if the laptop crash your have a back up recovery cd to reset it all back up from the time you got your laptop and all the software that you have installed will be reinstall from the back up cd and windows system and all the pc drivers all from 1 back up cd
that is the reason if your laptop crash and windows could not load you have the back up cd to put your system back to the way you had it set up use 1 DVD(R) blank cd to make the back up recovery cd that DVD(R) blank cd is 4.7 gb
