I try to remember to think globally, and act locally. I try to support a lot of programs in my community, and have done various things for different organizations. I think, if possible, the best thing for you to do is something close to home and in which you are interested. There are plenty of organizations in every community that help people with a variety of things, from serving food to the homeless to tutoring kids who need extra help in school. The main thing is that if you have the desire, doing something in your own community is where you can really make a difference. You also get the benefit of seeing the results of your actions. Decide what is of interest to you, and then decide how you would like to participate. Then get out the phone book, or do some research, and get involved!

There is another organization that I believe in strongly and which you can support without ever leaving your home, if you choose. That is Amnesty International. If you don't know anything about them, they are an organization that monitors human rights around the world. Their stance is that everyone should be treated humanely. They have various programs going on at all times, and one of the easiest things you can do is join their letter writing campaigns. I will post a link so you can check them out:

Check out the link to the different campaigns they are working on. I have been a member for a long time, but you don't have to be a member to participate. And they do make a difference in the world.

I don't know if there is an official organization but I find it best to volunteer at and support my local schools. Tudors are always needed for all grades or even classroom helpers.
