It says in the Bible when reading and studying the scripture to pray for wisdom and understanding.
If your prayer is heartfelt and sincere then God will give you understanding of the scripture, and understanding is the key to wisdom.
For God would rather that we all be wise.

For Example God said to David my church is my spirit it goes everywhere with you like a tent can go with you. So David who was a good man but possibly not the wisest took a church tent with him everywhere. Also because translations were paid for by Kings often by monks who liked having their heads attached to their necks and above their shoulders. The problem is even if you ask God for divine answers and wisdom can we possibly understand it as simple as we are or are we listening very good or is the latest rap song dancing around in your head distracting you. Sometimes the answers are not in a book of history like the Bible and God is the living book the living word and the living church. Does that help I hope so. Otherwise we can all go to Bush or the Pope whom I hear have direct connections and long distance to God..they got the money for the long distance hook ups..imagine the cost on a cell phone it would be great. I cannot resist that..all of us make mistakes but not like hiding men who molest children or transferring them or giving the poor Petroleum companies money when they own multimillion dollar houses down here..you know they are suffering soo much.

because it is written in secret heaven code that if you don't let the Holy spirit interpret it for you you will not understand it! Its by design so the un believer needs to receive the Holy spirit in order to gain the deep secrets of the word! plus it shows God humility and he bless this!

The Bible is a book of many layers. You won't get a complete revelation of a scripture unless it is revealed to you through the Holy Spirit. That's why so many non-believers can read the Bible and feel absolutely nothing.

Because it is more than just words in a book. It holds the key to our life....it holds answers to our questions. You can see how it gets interpreted when people read it just to criticize it and don't dig deeper for understanding.

I really don't know. From my perspective,if you possess both wisdom and understanding, you wouldn't believe in God in the first place!

In order to get our own selfish ego (the devil of the Christians) out of the way, so that we'll understand with God's unlimited perception rather than with our own, limited, tunnel vision.
