why are people rating this question negatively? she would like to know why people don't believe in her god. that doesnt' make her a bad person. and she certainly doesn't seem to have done anything to be rated negatively.
myself, i do not believe in your god, because i believe in mine. some people are born into a religion. some people rebel against their religion. some people find other religions make more sense.
me? i talk to tyr. and i talk to heimdall, who happens to be the origin of my last name.

It is simple ... if it is all true ... everything in your bible .. then I can see your god as nothing but pure evil .. look at the world, children starving by the millions, floods killing thousands, tsunami wiping out entire coastlines, war and human trechery runing rampant. If there is some all knowing and all powerful being that is our "father" then he is a terrible parent indeed to allow such things when he could stop them with no problem. Your god violates one of the great stories of the bible . he is not a "good samaratin". Since I can see your god as only evil and uncaring I refuse to believe in such things. I am an agnostic, not an athiest, and in the end if there is a god and I have to stand before him I will surly spit in his face.

I don't know what God is, that's why. I'm told God is a "supreme being" or "creator", but that still doesn't tell me anything. Even if God was a creator of sorts, how did people come to the conclusion that God is all knowing and all powerful. Maybe I'd be more willing to believe these stories if they weren't laced with so much B.S.

i'm a christian, meaning i was raised to believe in Him, i pray to him, but i even i have my doubts... i'm sorry if i may sound like a stupid, good-for-nothing, wretched girl but lately, i've been seeking answers to questions that have been bothering me for a long time. if He is real, why cant i feel him? why do i feel alone sometimes? but on the other hand, i marvel at the miraculous things that happen in our earth and i think that surely, man is not that perfect as to achieve such things, so maybe there is indeed someone from above who is so powerful and so almighty...
i'm really confused right now. i want to believe but the evidences are not enough for me to be sure the to believe is indeed the right thing to do...

I can see why people do not believe in God. They think a lot and know better. Smart people have doubts and ask questions. Nothing wrong with that. If they cannot see God or choose not to believe in God, we should not be critical of that.

God may or may not exist. The better question is, how can you be so certain that he does? (Moreover, why are you (and most others who refer to him) calling him a "him"? Just what use does God have for a penis?) As certain as you are that God must exist, I am certain of this: Tell me what you have to offer as proof, and I will refute it.
A baby's smile? That is sentimental bullshit. The complexity of life? Compared to what? What standard are we given, to claim that life is more or less complex than anything that can happen without design? Biblical prophecies? None of them are specific, they're all vague, and could be interpretted to refer to a wide range of incidents. What else you got?
Added: Ah, I see I've been rated. Thumbs downs: Oh no, spare me the wrath of your ignorant thumbs! Give me a break, people.
Jim: I completely agree with you, about the question. I think the issue here is that a lot of people have been conditioned to view any concern about their beliefs that does not include agreement as an attack. As soon as people see "I believe in God" or "I don't believe in God" or anything like it, all hell breaks loose. No pun intended.

I base my belief on evidence.
There is no evidence for God, so I have no belief in God.
Simple.
Edit: If you think you have evidence of God, go ahead and bring it, but I have seen all the evidence I could in the world, so I doubt you have anything new. Not bieng mean - I searched for a long time for any evidence whatsoever.

How CAN you? There's no evidence. You only believe because you've been taught to believe. That's all
