My computer isnt recognizing my camara it doesnt show up where i can get my pictures off of it?

if you have windows XP it should show as a separate drive, like E: for example. and you might try restarting your comp, then plug in your camera via the USB, then turn on your camera. give it a couple of seconds...then it should show up..good luck.

Go through all the usual suspects. Make sure that your camera is on (direct USB download) or that the reader is on (memory card reader). If your camera is like mine, when the USB cable is connected, it shows USB connectivity in the display.

Make sure that the drivers for the camera/reader are installed. If the program needs to be started (does not start when the camera is connected and turned on), then start it.

Finally, make sure that the USB port you are using is working. Attach another peripheral device which you know works, to check this, or run a diagnostic of the port.

Some devices set themselves to only work when plugged into the port they were connected to when they were installed/enabled. (I found this out with my laptop mouse). Try plugging the USB cord into the port where it worked before (if it has worked in the past).

If no luck doing what that top person said, after plugging in the camera go to Control Panel and Add Hardware and get it to search and see if it can find it.
