I had him done 5 days ago and I have seen no change in his behavior, he still stalkes my neighbors and he attacked the repairman today. He is a small mix-breed who acts like a Jack Russel. When will the he be less aggresive? When will his hormones go away?

HOw old was the dog when neutered? This can have an impact on how or if his behavior will change. On average it takes 3 weeks for the male hormone levels to start tapering off. However, this is not necessarily a cure-all for aggression. Some dogs, if neutered at an older age (after fully maturing) may never change their behaviors or only have subtle changes. The earlier the neutering, the better the results are as far as hormone influenced behavior goes. If he does not show improvement in his aggression within a couple of months, it may be time to call in a trainer. Good luck and BLESS you for having your dog neutered! I love your responsibility!!!

Neutering does not always change Personality Behaviors. How old is He? Small dogs seem to have "big bad dog" syndrome because everyone is bigger they seem to think if they act aggressive they will Be left alone and not Bullied. As far as Male Hormonal Behavior which is generally leg lifting, humping or being male dog aggressive depending on his age when surgery is done usually starts to subside after about 3 - 8 weeks after Neutering. Your dog needs more than just Neutering He also need to Be taught Doggie Etiquette and that He should not Be aggressive unless you or Himself is being threatened. Be Patient and Consistent spending as much time as possible Reinforcing Positive Behavior and Reprimanding Negative Behavior,in the end You will have a Dog that Understands what is allowable and what is not and You will Both Enjoy a Partnership..

For a dog your size, it will be approx 3-5 weeks for the testosterone to be re-absorbed back into his body. HOWEVER! This will only affect his social attitude towards other dogs, and that is questionable dependent upon his age at the time of sterilization. Most animals personalities are set by 6 months of age and if he is older than that then chances are he is who he is and your best recourse is training. It sounds as if you have done the right thing for the wrong reason. I would strongly recommend some formal training for you and your pet, so that you will both enjoy your extended time together. (A sterilized pet will on average live 3 to 8 yrs longer than one that has not been sterilized). My experience comes from running a mobile spay and neuter clinic in the Los Angeles area for lower income families, in conjunction with Los Angeles Animal Services.

It takes 30 days to completely get the testerone out of his system. I learned this the hard way. Got my male neutered and he still got my female pregnate. My vet said he could still produce pups for 30 days. Neutering might help with the agressivness, but it is rare. You need some good training. Sorry, I know that is not what you wanted to hear.

Having a dog neutered is not going to change his aggressive behaviour problems. You need to do that with training and if he's attacking people, you should find a good trainer right away.

Well, there is always a little bit of hormones, but the main craziness will go away in about six months.

My dog was still extremely hormone wild up to 4 years later. He's old now so he has no energy to hump. I think the instict always stays with them, they just can't reproduce.

He might not for sure become less aggressive. It doesn't work for all dogs.
My mastiff calmed down after a few weeks.

the unkindest cut of all does not always solve agression problems, esp if he was over about 18 m.o. when you did it.
