I'm confused and i've heard this before from the bible. It goes "heaven and earth will pass away but gods word will never" or something like that. It confuses me because when you die aren't you suposed to goto heaven or hell but if you goto heaven aren't you supposed to be there forever? It is going to "pass away"? I think that is in the bible..

Does this mean what it says??.

But did you not read that a new Heaven will be created for those who love God. The old Heaven and Earth will pass away, but the words of God remains forever. Furthermore, the kingdom of God is in you, it isn't up in the skies or way in the most remote Galaxy that is billions of years afar from us. The kingdom of God is inside you. Keep that in your mind. What good does it do you if you can live in a Heaven that is not part of your self and your spirit. The joy, the power, the love and all the good things will spring from the inner self of your spirit. God bless you.

Good question! The verse you're referring to is Matthew 24:35, although I think there are a couple of similar passages, (I used a Strong's Concord. to find it). From what I understand, the word heaven in the Bible can mean one of 3 places: 1) our atmosphere 2) space (or the universe where the stars are) and 3) the home or place where God dwells (2 Corinthians 12:2 speaks of 3rd heaven-ask me if you want more references) According to prophecy the earth and the atmosphere as we know it will be destroyed and God will create a new heaven and new earth free from the pain and death of sin. (See Revelation 21:1) Hope that helps!

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

For there to be a new heaven and new earth, God will destroy the old ones. Don't worry, we Christians will be fine.

This is before the Judgement of the Dead that are not saved:
Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

This is after their judgement:
Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

There are 3 heavens and mathew gospel is talking about the first and second heaven... these first and second heaven will be shaken..

Hebrews 12:26 (New Living Translation)

26When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: "Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also

BUT THE 3RD HEAVEN (where the Father and Son dwells is in 3rd heaven) in that heaven we will stay forever in HIS FATHER'S HOUSE

John 14:2-3 (New Living Translation)

2There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. 3When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

.... HOPE THIS IS CLEAR BROTHER...

The Bible says that the earth is standing forever so, what the scripture really means is that, even though the earth is standing forever, it would be more likely to pass away than for God's word to pass away. Does that make sense?

The old heavens (atmosphere) and earth pass away because the meek inherit a renewed earth. I suggest that you read the book of Revelation. The last couple of chapters covers this. It should give you the answer that you're looking for. God bless!

It is simply saying that although some people will choose not to follow the word (therefore losing opportunity of this life or after-life), it will be true and existent.

I do not subscribe to that view, but that's what it likely means.

It is just referring to the atmosphere (clouds, stars, etc...) when it says heaven in that verse, it is not talking about the actual Heaven.

Heaven may refer to the cosmos, such as the sun and stars, not the afterlife.
