I'll try to keep this brief, I tend to get carried away with politics. I'm personally infuriated with the gov't lack of action regarding illegal immigration. It's nothing but a stalemate between our elected officials to see who's going to "alienate" the hispanics. Both sides are waiting for the other side to do something about it, so they don't hurt themselves in the election.
It further enrages me at the fact that the media always finds themselves covering the protests in favor of the immigrants and none in favor of the american people! The polititions have told through their actions, which most definitely, speak louder then their words to go to hell. They know that we'll all walk to the polls like sheep during the election and vote straight ticket, because it's hopeless - so rather then gain 10% votes by stopping this immigration disaster both sides are trying to save 10% (for example) by not angering the hispanics.
I'm a republican, but I blame EVERYONE, including Bush. I'd just like to note to all the democrats, that even though Bush isn't pushing the issue, the democrats in office are trying to water down all efforts to crackdown, more and more leniency is not what the system needs.
Sorry, so much for making it short.

Haha politic's is soo convoluted but there is reasoning on both sides of the isle for the inaction of cracking down. For the Democrats they are interested in an uneducated class of people that they can bribe, mislead, make depended on them, or beholded to them so as to increase thier voting block. Its the big lie the Democrats have been telling minorities for the last 40 years, oh vote for us we'll give you more stuff, or the Republicans are mean or anything else you can think of to scare people into voting for them. The republicans on the other hand answer to big business, or small business, which needs a class of people to work cheap because we have made it illegal for the people who used to work these jobs do them anymore. I'm a Republican and I abhor the tactics on both sides especially in light of the fact that a vast majority as much as 85% of the CITIZENS of the US want illegal aliens out of the country. And as for a voluteer organization the Minutemen have been out on the border stopping bordercrossings while President Bush, whom on this one particular issue am FURIOUS with, calls them vigilantes. The only hope is that the House Of Representatives has the spine to stand up to the Senate and Pres. Bush in its call for enforcement only policies.

I don't understand. We elect these people to represent the American people and to protect OUR interests by acting on issues that the majority of their constituents are concerned about. Then when they get in office, they run around trying to protect THEIR interests with the money WE provide for them. There's no such thing as a PUBLIC SERVANT anymore. They're in office to get rich and it's a helluva racket. This country is financially being run into the ground and is also being given away while they give excuse after excuse. Politicians should not be allowed to make a career off the sweat of the backs of the American people.

I think they were just killing the Senate Bill with a 'hearings fillibuster' that didn't require much physical presence.
I think killing the Senate Bill was a good thing, and I am grateful for it, granted we will have to start all over, next year.
I could read what was said at the hearings on the news in a very brief time, so I wasn't tempted to spend a day at a hearing, but some of what was said was very interesting.

Yes, these guys are only concerned for their best personal and, carrer intrest . Americans had a wake up call , back when 911 went down, and we are paying more attention now. The protest in L.A., and the lack of action aginst illegal immigrants got us angry. Now we are hearing that terrorist are sneaking acrossthe same boarders we want to close down... We are starting to get angry with the system, and we are going to vote aginst those who do not take the actions we want.
angela R - Only a few .... how is 85 -90 % of American considered " only a few" ?

There is also the possibility that they hated knowing what was happening on capitol hill and needed a vacation. Maybe they started to think they could not do anything about it.

I think we need to get officials in that are going to do their job, and protect the American way of life for Americans.

This is S.O.P for the feds. I don't remember anyone ever saying that they were in touch with the American voter. This is part of the reason their power is slowly being stripped away from them on a state and local level. We Americans are in the process of making replacement parts now.
