check out autopsy on the net.. they have discontinued pics..but you can find info on the process

I would think that the step-by-step process might change based on the cause (or suspected cause) of death.

For example (and yes, I know it's just a TV show) on "Crossing Jordan," Macy told Nigel to X-ray the cadaver to check for heart disease, thus preventing the need for a full autopsy. Sounds like a logical method to me.

This was the only time in all of medical school I felt like throwing up. You can not imagine how nauseating it is to see a human body taken apart at warp speed. And that's only watching it on film, without the smells of rot and decay you get in real life. Why don't you help the living instead of disassembling the dead?
