When my wife was going through her cancer surgery, I went downstairs to the lobby and found a younger doctor talking to an older doctor. They didn't see me at first, and the young doctor asked why they still use radiation treatments on cancer patients when they KNOW that they CAUSE cancer. The older doctor looked around, saw me listening, and scolded the younger doctor, telling him to NEVER discuss that in front of patients. You tell me.

One type of machine that is used for radiation therapy is called a linear accelerator. This machine uses accelerates electrons to produce high-energy radiation for treatment. High-energy rays may also come from a machine that contains a radioactive substance such as cobalt-60. Some people call this cobalt therapy but it is only one of several different kinds of radiation therapy.
