At any given time, I usually have 10-20 calls holding on my MDT. We just don't have the time to chase these down. I have written cites for this, but not many. I usually just issue a verbal warning. The last one I wrote was after a warning. When I turned to walk away, the little s*** cranked it back up even louder. Needless to say, my good humor was exhausted at that point and he got a ticket. He also got arrested for the joint that rolled out of his visor when he pulled it down to get his insurance card. His car got towed to the impound too. All because he wanted to mess with the police officer who tried to be nice.

Well lets see besides the fact that all stock stereos in cars anymore can be heard for 50ft or more easily. Next alot of people dont usually have obnoxious radios. I have owned a very loud system before and never once got botherd. If they bug you that bad turn your stereo up or just move. I live on a road where I hear it about 3 times a day.. it isnt that bad.

Even though there is a law against how loud your music can be (must not be able to be heard at twenty five feet away) most officers arent agressive about ticketing drivers with the loud music because its not a high priority. When you're driving, the only time you really hear the music loudly is at a stop light. The cops cant constantly be hanging around the lights writing people tickets. Also, most think that there are bigger fish to fry.

It depends on where you live, they aren't against the law everywhere...I installed them for about five years so I also tuned my friends in my driveway. Needless to say my old obnoxious shut in neighbor called the police. Since the noise ordinance isn't till 10 o'clock he couldn't do anything but ask me to turn it down. I explained politely that I did not have to but out of respect for the officer I would while he was there...also that it would go back up after he left until I was done. To which he replied if he had to come back I would get a ticket, and I agreed as long as it was after 10 o'clock. Needless to say I didn't see him again, and my neighbor just had to deal with a little noise for about a half hour. Also at the same time its not hurting anybody in the middle of the day...and if it is at night and if they aren't sitting in front of your house for extended periods how harmful is it.

In all actuality, that has become a priority of some sorts in my department. We operate a special overtime detail to especially target loud stereos in vehicles. It would more than likely depend on the level of complaints recieved by an agency if they followed that course of action. They would also have to put a sound ordnance into effect in their respectful jurisdiction to really be able to deal with that type of problem. Unless of course they just decided to write the ticket for disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace or whatever they call it in that particular region.

Drivers with loud car stereos should be ticketted in order to stop them from disturbing the community where they pass and other drivers while on the road.

Would you rather them ticket the obnoxiously loud rich kids or pulling over the obnoxiously drunk guy? More than likely worse crimes being committed

Police don't usually carry a meter to measure the sound so if the case goes to court they have nothing to stand on. However, if a citizen makes a complaint they're more likely to do something, but only if they know it's not a first offense.

I guess they have more important things to do, or they like the sound themselves. I know there is an ordinance in this city. My tenant got fined $200, but for the most part it's not in forced.

How about all summer at night trying to sleep and crotch-rockets and motorcycles are flying by making noise beyond belief. We need mufflers on our cars - why do they get away with making such horrible noise?
