I agree with you, Iraq is a waste of time and especially now Saddam is gone the only thing being wasted is money on expensive oil and more body armor and more lives being wasted on IEDs and RPGs when there were no deaths prior to invasion.

God help a country where the military, least of all the soldiers, decide when and where to fight.
Iraq is, of course, a lost cause in the sense that George W. Bush, in his supreme arrogance and ignorance went in there. It is an illegal war, but he thought he could get their oil indusry for his cronies and Cheney and Rummy probably really thought that Iraqis would greet the American soldiers with flowers and accolades.
It's one more example of imperial folly. Read Barbara Tuchman's "The March of Folly". http://www.amk.ca/books/h/March_of_Folly
But that is not the point. When the US troops leave -- as they almost certainly will when there's a new president in Waashington and the US population tires of the war's cost and realizes that their Treasury has been emptied and their grandchildren's future mortgaged -- there may be chaos. Or maybe the Iraqis will have tired, too, of the insanity of secular infighting and anarchistic slaughter.
To try, though, like Lord Haw Haw or Tokyo Rose to demoralize the troops and so further your agenda is more than wrong, it's evil. Of course neither George W. Bush nor Tony Blair really "supports" the troops or they would have supplied better equipment, more troops and -- most of all -- paid the troops better and properly financed (in the USA) the VA and (in Britain) the families of deceased soldiers and officers.
Sadly, the only ones who will profit from this war are Halliburton and the other members of the military-industrial complex and the Carlyle Group, friends of Cheney and Bush. But that is not the Marines' fault. If only the Marine and other military professionals had been listened to when the war was planned perhaps it would never have happened, or it at least so many soldiers would not have died.
But the Marines only do what their civilian masters tell them. You have a vote in two months' time. Use it.

Keep repeating this long enough and you might actually believe it.
Yes WMD. 500+ artillery shells and rocket warheads filled with nerve agent and mustard gas.
The Hussein government certainly trained terrorists. That is what Salman Pak was all about. The 727 fuselage was specifically to train hijackers.
The only way we will "lose" this war is if we give up. Documents captured when we killed Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi show that the terrorists admit they are losing and losing big time.
So when we actually end up winning in Iraq and Afghanistan, I guess you can start the self flagellation. I know you are comfortable in your "hate America first" state of mind, but that does not mean that your perceptions match reality.

Being in Iraq allows the US to gain MONEY, plus OIL. Why do you think this all started? Sadam could not fart without the US's permission but unfortunatly for the idiot he forgot who he really is and believed himself to be a God. So the US had to teach him a lesson, imagine what would happen in the long run if the US walked out? The rest of the countires in the would would think the US has weakend then what would Osma do? smoke his pot believe he's the islam saviour and try to bomb the word! Theres more to this than meets the eye. Have faith in the Government.
Plus if you expect little you get little, cheer the brave not put them down.

Many societies throughout history have been required to pay tribute to their Lords with human lives. Usually they either send young virgin girls or vigourous young males. The USA, in order to appease the gods of gasoline and OPEC, sends sacrificial victims over to Iraq (or, eye-rack, as it is pronounced by those who worship this particular idol) so they can be killed, in the hopes that it will appease these angry gods and prices at the pumps will remain stable. This is a quaint and somewhat barbaric practice, but thankfully no-one with anything approaching an average IQ is sent, and the loss to society is minimal. Except when these gods choose to only take certain parts of their victims before sending them back, leaving them maimed, crippled, damaged, and even more of a burden upon society than before.
So, if you believe in Lord Gasoline and his henchmen Haliburton, then you better hope and pray that it's not a lost cause. One day perhaps we will please him so much that he will answer all our prayers for fuel and gasoline will run from the taps of our sinks like water, and we will all live in a wonderland of perpetual summertime and there'll be cars for every one, even the Chinese.

First, I don't know that we'll lose... no one does and the fat lady hasn't sung yet. The people in the USA should put their head up proudly regardless, though. Even if it's a war we should NOT be in, it's not the fault of the individual soldier that he had to go there and fight. If he is doing the job he signed up to do, it's YES SIR and NO SIR, no feeling involved. If they pause to think, it's all over.
Watch "A Few Good Men." It used to make my retired Vietnam Vet dad cry ever time, but the bottom line premise is correct.

You puny little thing..Small people bash ideas that they cannot understand or ideals that they cannot live up to.
Please go to Iraq, and find out if we are indeed loosing or not, do not rely on the Media alone. Ask a returning vet for a balanced view.
What do you consider loosing and what do you consider winning?
Everything that we wished to achieve in Vietnam had come to pass, it just did not happen in the impatient American time frame.
The popularity #'s for this conflict are in line with those of the Civil War, and Vietnam.
Your endless bashing of the Men & Women in the Marine Corps is an irresponsible use of your freedom of speech, as I suspect you have a personal grudge against the USMC, and are dragging down people who had no part in that affair, and did not get to pick the conlfict they are engaged in. It is the ultimate selfish act.

The Military people I know and who have been there do not think it is a lost cause. Only people like you can turn it into a lost cause just like the likes of you turned Vietnam into a lost cause. Grow a pair and start supporting your country.

The Marines, just like all the other branches of the military, are only doing what they are being told to do by their superiors. I'm sure it's not 'cause they like being over there.
