I suggest that you get Frontline plus for your dog... it works like a charm.

Not to prevent getting them, but they can get a lyme disease vacc. But a flea and tick collar might help the ticks stay off, it really only chases fleas to the back so I am not sure how it works on ticks. Check at your local Petsmart or Petco though, I believe they have a spray that you can use like once every other day if you are living in a wooded area. Just spray your dog in the morning and let them out and as long as they don't swim or bathe it lasts like 2-3 days. I believe its by Hartz.
Good Luck!

Yes, but you may not really want to do that. As my vet told me, if it kills fleas, it is poison. Do you want to give your dog a poison pill? I use Frontline Plus. Have 3 dogs.

You shouldn't feed them pills, mainly because they can get sick. Unless, you are directed by a vet.
