i only had my uterus removed, but my ovaries and tubes were good, so they stayed in. over the 4 years since, i have gotten cramping not every month, but some months, exactly like when i had my period. is this what is called "phantom" pain, or is it that i am still ovulating? since i do not have a cervix anymore, cramping doesn't make any sense.

It is not unusual for someone who has had any part of their body removed to still experience pain as if it were there. For example, a diabetic who has had a foot amputated my complain that their toes ache and yet they aren't there. It's called 'phantom pain'.

From personal experience, I had all of my upper teeth removed and a full plate made, yet when I eat something very sweet like cake icing, I feel pain but I know the teeth are no longer there.

As well as having phanton pain, I would assume you are still ovulating. Since they are still there and functioning and producing hormones, I suppose the same pms symptoms would be present as well. Where the egg goes I have no idea. I did find a site that you might find helpful though. Good luck finding your answer and understanding your pains!

a simple hysterectomy means the ovaries are left inside the body. It is the ovulation that produces pain in many cases. since the ovaries were left it's possible to still feel pain.

I guess I'm not sure what the term for my hysterectomy was but they left one ovary and most of the cervix. Thought I'd have thoughts around that "time" but God, never missed it for a second! Enjoy the freedom!

Guys are totally clueless about women and what they really want. A guy thinks with the wrong head always. If he thought about how to make a woman happy, with the shoulder head, the other head would be taken care of without worry.

i have had the same thing done, and i too have the same kind of cramping , and even worse pain. they tell me the pain is from the ovulation, and from the scar tissue left behind. i tend to scar very badly with surgeries. there is nothing they can do for it, but treat me as they did before the surgery. which i do not want to be on medication.
