It is safe to drink water out of a plastic bottle as long as the bottled water is NOT frozen. Do not put the water bottles in the freezer ever.

I think this theroy is over rated. I use a plastic bottle to take water to work. Bring it home, rinse it out, refill and freeze for the next day. As it starts to melt you can drink and the water stays cold most of the day.

I had read some research--if you use the same water bottle over and over, the commercial bottles--then it does raise the chances of cancer. I don't think it applies to the thermos kind.
