There is no best branch. If your considering joining the military think about what each one does and then go from there. There are several jobs that you will only find in one or two branches like Infantry but for the most part they all have the same or similar fields.

You have some pretty good answers on here, and some equally ignorant ones. It's all up to you. Speak with each recruiter and see what the best deal you can pull for yourself. If you work it right, you can have a pretty sweet deal. The army and marines are the toughest physically, but air force and the navy tend to be more mentally challenging. All are good in my opinion, and i am in the army now. Air force has the highest standard of living, but is having issues with numbers, so your bonus might be small. If you go army or marines, you could get more of a bonus and still high standard of living. Just speak to each recruiter and remember, they want you to join theirs, but where you go is up to you.

They are all the same. We all get shot at (unlike what people say).

USAF, NAVY, MARINE, ARMY are in harms way overseas all the time. COAST GUARD is protecting the shores of the US.

True there is better qualitiy of life in the USAF, but its more of a desk job...some jobs though are tough (TACP, CCT, PARARESCUE, etc.). Only special ops jobs and Security forces are demanding at times. If you like the outdoors then go SERE in the Air Force...they tell pilots what to do...its a good job if you like the outdoors.

NAVY...you spend alot of time on ships or support them. Physical demanding at times

MARINE...You are kicking butt like a seabass all the time..rock on..love those guys...they are fun to drink with. Always in tip top shape...gotta love running.

ARMY...Kick butt...and you can do alot of cool stuff. Gotta be in a good shape.

Ehh..its all my opinion...each branch has its goods and bads...just talk to all the recruiters and pick the one you like...its up to you.

rkalch is very wrong, he is an idiot for saying that.

"COAST GUARD" fight criminals and drug dealers. And they do carry guns and do get shot at. "AIR FORCE" go to Iraq. "NAVY" are actually getting trained by the Army. And don't forget Navy Seals and the Seabees.

Air Force:http://aimpoints.hq.af.mil/display.cfm?id=8500

Navy:http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/02/07/iraq.navy/

I got proof, check out these websites.

rkalch, you are a fool! U don't know nothing.

So if u are thinking about military, none of them is safe. All of them play a vital role in the War.

I deserve the best answer..lol

United States Marine Corps the greatest fighting force EVER in existence on God's earth. Corps, God, Country. Semper Fidelis.

it all depends on your motive. if you are in it for the money-Army or Army Reserve. If you want to look good and serve your country at the same time-Navy or Air Force. But if you want to be physically and mentally the best person you can be, doing all you can for your country, the pride of being a U.S. Marine is what you are looking for.

My husband is in the AF and I am partial to that. THey treat us well and it, along with the coast guard, is the safest.

Also, if you're going to join the military i recommend you join as an officer after college. They treat you infinitely better, the pay and benefits are better, etc.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to fly fighter jets, the Army is not for you.

If you are interested in Armor or Field Artillery, the Air Force and Navy are not for you.

If you want to learn how to operate a nuclear power plant, the Navy is your ticket.

So what do you want to do?

depends on what you want to get out of the experience. you should really do research to find what each offers and what fits you best. do not talk to a recruiter about this, i mean talk to people in the military. recruiters are like car salesmen! good luck!
