I have been researching, reading up on, and talking to people about wicca. Since I was little, I have had doubts about my faith, and after googleing The Craft, Wicca came up as a key subject. I have been researching it for a good two years. I think after all the researching, reading until my eyes bled, That I have finally found a belief system that is right for me. I believe whole heartedly, and it explains my infatuation with help perserving the natural woods, plains and oceans. If some one would like to get to know me and/or mentor me, please feel free to email me, or if someone knows a good website to help me find a mentor, I would like that too. Thank You!!!!

This is the link for finding a witches meet up near you. In the lower right corner you will see other meet ups that you may find interesting.
http://witches.meetup.com/

This is a link for Witchvox. If you scroll over the word "World" just below the header you will find links for local groups, individuals, events, and shops in your area (many shops have classes).

You can search for local Yahoo groups using the keywords "Wicca" or "Pagan" and your home state. In my local area we have 7 groups. You may be surprised to learn that there is a local group.

Some of my favorite Wiccan Yahoo groups are:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wiccan_collegium/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amberandjet/

You can look through your local phone book for metaphysical shops in your area. Sometimes they are listed under "Bookstores".

If you live in southern Ohio, I may be able to give you local contacts. Good luck on your journey!

I just answered with a similar answer to another question. But you are your own best mentor if you are starting out. Try working through the lessons on Avalonia:

http://www.avalonia.co.uk/wicca_free_lessons/index.htm

They helped me a great deal when I was very confused and I followed it up with the excellent correspondence course offered through the site.

Wicca is not quite the same as Paganism in general and some of what you say sounds like you are confused about which tradition is right for you. Try getting your hands on Pagan Paths by Pete Jennings - it examines a variety of pagan and magickal traditions and may help you find direction.

Good luck and blessings for your path!

What's the point of Wicca??? From what I understand, from an ex-wiccan, (now a christian), That wiccan does nothing but make you think you have some false magical powers or somethin like that.... I also know this ex wiccan almost commited suicide as a sacrafice of herself... After major counseling, she made a dramatic change in her life and her actions.... So, whether you agree with me or not, just remember to be careful while you are practicing this religion, if that's what it's called.... Some times, people don't realize how far they are gettin into something.

In my opinion, the best mentor you could hope for is yourself. After having been pagan (Dianic Wiccan) for 12 years, I have yet to find anyone I would even consider as a mentor who shares my particular views on religion. I've done much better studying and researching on my own.

My advice: Read everything you can on Wicca. Even if it's the most ridiculous tripe you've ever set your eyes on, at least you'll know that it's tripe and that you don't agree with it. Take a trip to local bookstores and/or libraries, and grab as much as you can on the subject.

Some books that I've found great...
'Drawing Down the Moon', by Margot Adler
'The Holy Book of Women's Mysteries', by Zsuzsanna Budapest
'The Spiral Dance', by Starhawk
'The Path of the Priestess', by Sharron Rose
'Maiden, Mother, Crone', by DJ Conway

No matter what anyone tells you, you never stop learning. :)

There's a free online religious witchcraft course at http://www.annwnscauldron.com/temple/lessons.html
It's connected to a discussion forum, and the woman who runs the course is very sensible and willing to help newbies.

There are a lot of "wicca classes" offered online, most of which are just random collections of information off other websites. This one is different--it's the same material she uses to teach her students in circle, and anyone who gets all the way through it (it's *LONG*) will *know* they are a witch, and will never doubt their own skills in that area.

HI,

If you are interested in learning more about Wicca you should take the free classes at witchschool.com. They are good for any learning level and many classes are completely free. They also have free chat so you can discuss your feelings with other classmates and mentors. Good luck.

Have you practiced the religion yet? Have you practice magic yet? I think this would be your next step. If you are not confident to do it yourself then you probably are not ready to join a coven or anything. Everyone (I would think) has to lead a ritual at least once. Please realize I have never been in a coven. I have only been in group with my family and that is how we do it.

But if you feel like you need to find a coven or group to join then the best place I have found is witchvox. The address is http://www.witchvox.com/, look under world.

God, the Father loves you enough to give His only Son to die on this earth for you. Jesus loves you so much He died on the cross for you. Why do you turn your back on Him and He has never turned His back on you.
Believing in witchcraft is NOT a religion.
Preserving the woods plains and oceans is wonderful, but have you forgotten Who created them. GOD!!!

Read the Bible and use God and Jesus are your Mentors. They will not mislead you!!!!!!!!

It is a cult created circa 1950 by by British masochist Gerald Gardner so he could be beaten by strong willed women. Followers are self deluded into believing they have magical powers.
