I was at one point of my life a Christian. The reason I stopped being one becuase I didn't have the heart to say or think that another person that isn't Christian that they would one day be damned to hell. I still believe in all the morals that the bible promotes. I believe in loving God and respecting him. But I do not believe Christ was God. He might have been holy. But He is not God. Do you think that one day that i'll be in hell?

I don't believe in hell. I'm just wondering what Christians think. I'm loking for an opinion.

Another reason I turned away was becuase there are people in the world who sin alot less then Christians but go to Heaven. Say for example Hitler was a Christian. He would go to heaven while someone like confucius ghandhi buhdha will go to hell.

Another thing that does not make sense is how there are people who never heard of Christ but are supposedly going to hell. I heard response like you can only go to heaven or hell if you've heard of it. But that does not make sense either because why would you spread the word if you knew that it would give people the option to go to hell.

The last reason is I cant imagine a perfect God create evil. He created Satan. Satan had evil. People say Satan created evil but that does not make sense because how can you create someone who can create something you can't.

First of all, your not looking for Truth. people seeking knowledge and truth, don't run they're mouth, making statements.

Now, are you here to lecture about something you have zero clue about? or ask questions?

I think you should still be a Christian and not let how some other people interprete the bible as your reason to stay away. Think about it this way, the way that baptists, methodists, catholics, etc. interprete the teachings of god did not exist when jesus was around. I think he had only one simple message, live an honorable and good life, love god, love your fellow man, and do no evil. Many people will call themselves Christian or otherwise religious, yet spread hate whether it be in the form of intolerance for other religions, homosexuals, or otherwise. Don't let them lead you away. Only god can pass judgement, not people, these "religious" folk have taken god's job upon themselves and passed judgement. We are not to decide if someone is a sinner or not.

Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:12

To get away from going to hell and staying faithful with God is believing Christ is God. God did send a part of him, his son from the Trinity to die for us so we wouldn't have to go to hell. You need to believe that is what happened and accept Christ as your personal Savior to become a Christian. I love have accepted and believe all of that is true. Hell is a real place and it's terrible. It's like pain when you brake an arm or a leg or burning in fire only 100 x's worse. But if you accept this free gift from God you will be saved and will be called a new name. You will live with him in wonder and happiness for eternity and it's even too hard to comprehend how much better it is which it is. If you do not believe Christ is God and that he died for us, then you are no real Christian. I hope God guides you and leads you in the right direction. It is your free will and not mine. You may make many more mistakes but that is because of sin. Sin is a beautiful but terrible thing. Jesus loves you very much and God bless. =)

Oh my. Look, my brother: There is sometimes an ocean between somebody saying they're a Christian and someone accepting the gift of and then working out their salvation. Say someone like Hitler proclaimed to be a Christian. He can say it however long and however loudly he likes, but it is evident by his fruits that he is not working out his salvation--nor does he believe in God, for that matter, or else he would not himself seek dominion over others.

We are known by our FRUITS, not by our words.

That said, God can have mercy on whomever he wishes. It is not for us to sit around and say who is going to be in Heaven and who is going to be in Hell. This is God's realm, and God's alone. He is the one who judges, and his judgment is just, whatever it may be.

If you yourself rejected the gift of salvation because you were worried about others, you are giving more power to humans than you are to God, and therefore you are in a bad spot. Reconsider whether you want to risk your eternal soul because of what you *think*--not know, but think--is going to happen to others. Is it worth that price? Even though you could very well be wrong?

This is similar to the age-old "If So-and-So jumped off a bridge, would you jump off a bridge?" If you THINK that someone is condemned because they don't accept Christ, is this good enough reason to reject God's gift?

It seems like a no-brainer to me.

If you don't believe that Christ was God, then you can't believe he was holy. Holy men do not go around saying that the only way to their Father is through them, nor do they go around saying that they must die in order to fulfill prophecies. Lunatics go around saying these things. So either Christ WAS the son of God, or else he was a lunatic. If he was not the son of God, he was not holy. What he would be in that case is a blasphemer.

I have no idea where you will spend eternity. Neither does anyone else here. So whatever opinion anyone gives you, it isn't God's law. It is just someone's opinion. Any besides Christ claiming to know all about the mind of God is a liar.

Wow - lots to discuss here.

First of all, being a Christian does not require one to condemn others to hell. There are plenty of Christians out there who, while believing that their faith represents truth, accept that others are free to arrive at different conclusions based upon their experience of the divine.

Being a Christian does, however, require one to believe that Christ was God. It is too central an idea for there to be room for doubt or questioning. Those who cannot believe Christ was God cannot accept the critical tenets of the faith, most particularly the understanding of Christ as the propitionary sacrifice for human sin.

My background is very similar to yours. I tried very hard to be Christian when I started dating my husband too, but I just couldn't bring myself to accept the idea that where people went in the afterlife is only based on what religion they picked. There were thousands of years of human existence before Jesus was even born, and not everyone is even exposed to Christianity. I tried to convince myself that everyone would be visited by the paraclete, regardless of what religion is came in the form of, and that acceptance or rejection determined the afterlife, but that doesn't quite work either.

I am studying religion for my bachelor's degree, and I have found many other things out about Christianity. For example, the idea that if one chooses Jesus determines afterlife placement is a very new idea. Traditionally, Christians believed that God elected those for salvation around the Fall of Man. No one debated this idea, they only didn't know if occurred before or after the fall. There was always widespread anxiousness because no one would know if they were elected for salvation or not. This meant that not every Christian got to go to Heaven, only those God picked out beforehand. Even Martin Luther didn't know if he was elected!

Anyway, back to me. I've really been agnostic since I was about 12. I wouldn't say I was any label before that. While extensively studying Christianity and being married to a Christian, I tried very, very hard to be a Christian too. I wanted to be Christian for my husband and I wanted to show people that a Christian can be well educated about their religion too. It didn't work. I just couldn't bring myself around the concept of Hell. I don't believe in Hell, and I don't believe there is a Satan. (Other, much older religions, never had a duality in the afterlife and they did not have an "evil god.") I also never really knew what to think about Jesus.

As I said, I study the Christian Bible and the religion for school, but it's nothing special compared to other religious texts. In fact, it's more mean spirited and the people who use it have some pretty wild claims about it. I disregard the texts for my spiritual path. I focus on trying to be a good person and see that others are doing well around me. My goal is to be a selfless person. I am not part of a religion for my eternal reward, not do I treat people with the afterlife in mind either. I am respectful to others because it is the right thing to do!

Anyway, I use the term "eclectic Pagan" to describe myself. I try to keep the concept of ma'at in my life daily. I have morals, I believe there is Higher Power, and I feel that people have eternal souls. I also believe that everyone goes to Summerland when they pass over, and I feel that would include you if that is where you care to be.

Jesus Christ , the Son of God, is God incarnate in a man. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, bare All the sins of the world, and was crucified on the cross for our salvation. This is the entire foundation of Christianity. There is no salvation without excepting this. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6.

As for Hitler, I don't expect to see him there, but I can't worry about that. "For we must all of us appear before Christ's judgement-seat in our true characters, in order that each may then receive an award for his actions in this life, in accordance with what he has done, whether it be good or whether it be worthless. " 2 Corinthians 5:10

It doesn't matter what we think or what you think. You don't have to believe in hell to wind up there. Jesus said that no one can go to the Father except through Him. Believe what you will. God gave you free will and that includes the opportunity to reject Him but you do so at the peril of your eternal soul. You ARE going to live forever, the only question is where. God wants you to be in a relationship with Him, so much so that He sent Jesus to buy you back, BUT He will not force you into it. Though it causes Him great sorrow He will allow you to reject Him and spend eternity apart from Him. I think that is a really bad choice but I can only make my own.

Before you completely dismiss Jesus as the Christ you should read "THE CASE FOR CHRIST" by Lee Strobel. If you do that and still believe the same...well the choice will still be yours.

There is only one unpardonable sin and that is leaving this life without accepting Jesus as Christ.

I would likek to ask a question. Why do you think that just because a person sins less or is a good person, he would go to heaven. The Bible says in John 3:18 that "he who believes in Him(Jesus) is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." Also, 1 Peter 2:6 says that they who believe on Him will by no means be put to shame. That is why you see so many people on this site who will get on here and post no matter what "rationalist" say. They aren't making anybody look foolish, and believers sit back and wait, biding our time, because eventually, somebody is going to be proven right. It will either be faith or fact. I tend to stay on the faith side.

Don't know what religion you were, but Christ was God in the flesh, John 1:1 and John 1:14 and many times Christ said the Father and I are one. You have to believe in Christ to go to heaven, Christ said whosoever believeth in me shall not perish but have everlasting life. There is a literal hell, Revelation 20:11-15 is the judgement of the unsaved and Revelation 21:8 tells you who is going there. Good luck in your quest for the truth.

Based on what you said, I doubt that you were born again. Yes, you probably attended church; yes, you probably did all the "right" things, but you probably didn't have saving faith. I only say this because Jesus said that no one could snatch believers from the Father's hand. (John 10:29)

Jesus told Nicodemus that a person had to be born of the Spirit, not just of the flesh. The whole Gospel of John dealt specifically with the idea of Christ as God. Jesus was nearly stoned to death because he said He was God. Let's look at a few examples of His claims:

1) He received worship, which is only acceptable for God. Take a look at the blind man who was healed "He said, "Lord, I do believe," and worshiped him." (John 9:38)

2) He applied the name of God to Himself in several passages. The most obvious in the English is: "Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly I tell you, before there was an Abraham, I am!" Here's a few other examples: Matthew 14:27, Mark 6:50, Mark 13:6, Luke 21:8, John 4:26, John 6:20, John 8:24, 28, and John 13:19. (Some translations will show the Greek for "I AM" to be translated in the English "It is I," or "I am He," and doesn't accurately reflect was was really being said.)

3) Other times He was accused of blasphemy because He forgave sins. For example, "Why does this man talk this way? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" (Mark 2:7) And the religious leaders who asked this were correct. No one can forgive sins, but God alone.

You say you don't believe in hell, yet Jesus spoke of hell as a very real place, and spoke of it more often than He did of heaven. However, for whatever reason, people assume that they are going to heaven than there are people who believe they are going to hell.

Jesus said that the road that leads to destruction is wide, and the road to life is narrow. Many travel the wide road, but few on the narrow one. Now, if Jesus spoke in this manner, how is it that we as human beings, dispute what He claimed? It is because we have made Jesus into our image (a violation of the 2nd Commandment) instead of seeing Him as He really is.

It is not God who sends people to hell. It is themselves. God has made it very clear how to get to heaven. When someone goes to hell, they must step over Christ's dead body to get there.

As to whether or not you are going to hell, I cannot tell you. Judgment has been given to Christ alone. And He knows those who are His. But He has made it clear that those who are His sheep hear His voice. And His voice has been recorded for us by eyewitness accounts. The Holy Spirit then confirms the truth of those accounts in our hearts. How you act on that truth determines your final destiny. All ways do not lead to God, anymore than all roads lead to New York. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
