I want a way that doesn't sound insulting or accusatory. These days you can never be too careful, and I want to have all my bases covered.

It's smart thinking just tell the person how you feel like you just said. Tell them that it's not that you don't trust them but that if ya'll are going to take things to that level that you need to know for sure. If they don't like it then they don't deserve your goodies. They should be happy that you are that careful. More people should be like you. Don't give in if they don't agree. Always take care of yourself and remember that if they are not willing to take the test that you are not willing to die for them. Be careful and safe always. And even if your test come back negative still use protection.

Say it just the way you said it.
I told my ex boyfriend that there isn't anyone worth having sex with if I'm going to die from it...

Well tell your partner straight out " i don't want to die and i don't want to have to worry about death, medication and crap like that". Cause i'm pretty sure that they don't want the same thing either.

This may seems rude but this is howi see it. sorry.
