Thats awesome! I'm a conure owner & he does some pretty crazy & funny things, but I havent ever vaccumed him. :)

African grey's are amazing birds. You should video tape this & send it to america's funniest animals. Maybe he thinks you need singing lessons & assumes the noise that the vaccum makes is your attempt at a duet.

Your story made me smile :)

I have a total of six parrots and two are Congo African Greys (male and female siblings) They also like the sound of the vacuum cleaner. They even beging making bathing motions with their wings and squawk much louder to be better heard when I use the vacuum cleaner.

Mine have always been together, so they often converse with each other using human language.

I have an Illigers Macaw that takes baths in his water dish every time I turn on the vacuum! The whole time I am vacuuming he is in the water havin' a good ole time.
I tried letting him out when I vacuumed and he came right for the dang thing!
It is pretty weird that some birds go bonkers for it.
I'm putting this on my watch list...
Have fun with your feathered baby!!

Your bird is competing with the sound of the vacuum. The louder the environment is, the louder birds tend to be. If you have a relatively quiet household, your birds will tend to be quieter and calmer.

that's cute. whenever i get the vacuum cleaner out, my african grey says, 'daddy's gonna vacuum'.

it was funny reading oodlesofanimals answer, because my grey used to do the exact same thing when i vacuumed. he would always start bathing in his water dish when i turn on the vacuum cleaner. he stopped doing it years ago though.
