Well best thing you can do is to stay healthy and eat right and make sure you get vitamin C and rest etc.

While you have it, it can be miserable...make sure you drink a few sips of water every 15 minutes if you can't hold anything down...get your son pedialyte if he is really having a hard time as it gets absorbed real quick but most kids don't tend to like it. Eat crackers and toast and white rice...it's hard to hold much down but those seem to stay down. Just wash your hands often and his too and do so every time you go come in from going anywhere to avoid it.

I always carry a hand sanitizer with me in my purse and car and make sure the kids use it every time we go someplace public and before handling food if we can't get somewhere to wash our hands.

You need to seek medical attention to define what the condition is, it may not be a viris.
It may be that you have both injested a parasite or have hepatitis. You may also have a bacteria that is causing your symptoms. You need to find the cause and then address that.
Make sure hygene practices are upheld, wash everything and boil all utensils used for preparing food, Clean all surfaces with bleach and soak what can't be boiled in a solution used to steralise. Sanatise your home, bedding etc. Make sure all food is stored at the correct tempratures.
Dysentry or gastroenteritis or hepatitis left untreated can become life threatening as can gut parasites as well as these conditions can be passed onto other people.

well, unfortunatly you will have to be exposed do to the young age of your son.

Be sure to keep him well hydrated. Lots of water. Water is escentual for the body and does not require a lot of effort for digestion and filtration by the body.

If I was you, I would go to the health food store or vitiamin shop and ask for something to boost your immune system.

The best way to prevent the spread of illness is to wash, wash, wash, your hands. A minimum of 10 seconds with warm/hot soapy water.

Well wishes to your son and yourself!

Give him plenty of fluid and rest. No strong and/or hard food. A good chicken soup helps.
