I was told that when a kid eats dirt ,sand and licks glass is because has parasites. Is that true?

2 year olds stick anything in their mouth.
For other people, it's a condition called mica (could be spelling it wrong) and it usually means they have an iron deficiency.

When a child or anyone begins eating dirt, it is because they are lacking minerals, mostly zinc.
Mostly such behaviours are part of a condition that is an intellectual disability called Pardra Willie Syndrome
Parasites will be consumed along with the soil if the soil is contaminated with such.

not hardly....pregnant women eat dirt sometimes due to a lack of certain minerals they are lacking...pretty gross, but true...if the child is eating dirt and sand, it may disrupt his gastrointestinal system if he digests too much. The licking of glass is just a sensation....parasites will cause much worse symptoms....vomiting, diarrhea, fever, spots on skin..etc...go to webmd.com if you need further help...hope i could help with the problem of eating dirt.....

No, that's not true. I ate little bits of dirt when I was 1-2 years old, and nothing was wrong with me.

no but it's time to get a blood panel.
maybe she's lacking something chemically.
just take her to the doc and tell him she's got the flavor for sand, dirt. believe me this is common and fixable.

Oddly, this is a common thing. Have her tested. I wouldn't think it's parasites. It's a deficiency of some sort, though.
