I've got extremely curly hair, and no matter what I do, after straightening, my hair remains curly close to the scalp. What can I do to make the roots of my hair straighten without going out and buying expensive hair products?

I don't want to get it permanently straightened, because I would like the option of wearing it either curly or straight.

Ceramic straighteners work the best on curly hair. Most salons use those on their clients. I have permed hair and sometimes I like to straighten it. I buy Paul Mitchell spray for only $8 and spray it at my roots, then immediately straighten. I would suggest if you're looking for a hassle free way to straighten hair, to get it permanently straightened at a salon. But for a cheaper way to go use some sculpting spray and a ceramic straightener.

I've found that a really good ceramic straightener at the highest setting gets all my curls out. Make sure to protect your hair from heat damage which a product like ThermaSilk, though, because if you don't, hair gets damaged pretty quick.

whenever your getting tired of your curls just make an oppointment at a hair salon. and i say this in a completley non racial way but it might be more effective going to a salon for women of color. personally i have had better service in one of those.
the straightening will last for about 3 weeks. or you can buy an ethnic hair straightener from the salon. they are a little expensive but theyre worth it in the long run.
hope it helps your problems
and good luck

Go for hair straightening (rebonding). I did mine in a hair salon that uses all Wella SP product. Not bad. It's been 2 months, and my hair's still straight! :)
Maybe you should ask the hair salon for more info?
