Whenever there's any accident or issue on the freeway, rubbernecking causes severe traffic jams. Is causing a huge traffic jam worth slowing down to take a second look at a car accident?

It drives me nuts when the highway is backed up because of it, but I am guilty of doing it when there is an accident. I want to make sure it isn't anyone I know.

I must be a professional rubbernecker because "somehow" I'm able to look and drive at the same time without slowing down. As for why I do it, its kind of a reflex.

I do because I'm interested. I actually took a picture of a smashed car as I was passing it once, but it's ok for me because I dont drive yet :-)
