What's that you say, Carrot-top?

The term is a throwback from the Character "Ginger" on Gilligan's Island. She was a movie star, flirty, sexy, and a little bit ditsy at times. It's a small insult, but also a complement. She was a very beautiful woman. Do a poll one time about how many men find red attractive as a hair color. I bet you'll find that a lot do.

If we outlaw mocking redheads, then blondes should have the first crack at it. We've been made fun of much longer than redheads.

There are more colors in red hair than golds and strawberry. You would be leaving a lot of woman out with just those two color descriptions.

Ginger-ism? Is there such a thing as Blonde-ism? Hmm...

I like red hair actually, I spend wayyy too much getting mine coloured at the hairdresser to make it just the right shade of red, do you think I should stop?

I used to be bullied for being a ginger when i was at school now my hair turned to more of a strawberry blonde. I think other people are just jealous of us being a bit different. I wouldn't ever change my hair colour. Red rocks so be proud of it xx

I have red hair. I once asked my man what the difference between a 'redhead' or 'flame haired' woman and a 'ginger' was. He replied it wasn't the hair per-say, but their attitude and looks. Like the difference between 'chestnut' hair and 'mousey'.

I have been called everything from ginger-nut to carrots. People do mock but then again everyone gets teased and at least it isn't something awful like BO or greasy hair! Blondes get teased too, as do black haired girls (called goths etc').

Its hilarious when you consider the amount of people who DYE their hair red! Red hair is beautiful. Red haired people have the finest skin in the world, so fine that it has to protect itself by freckling! Look at the skin of red haired people that stay out of the sun - pure white, almost transparent. The mocking of Ginger heads is just plain jealousy on the part of dull looking, artificially coloured people.

Please, please, please don't suggest another ism!
There's too much PC nonsense in the world already.

I'm serious, suggest it to which ever minister is in charge of equality and diversity and with in a few months it WILL be illegal for people to call me a ginge ( despite the fact my hair is dyed cherry red not ginger, am blond naturally - oi, no comments!)

I don't want to see my friends in trouble just for having a laugh!
If it does get outlawed then I'm going back to black!
What is the world coming to?!

The immature will always mock those with less common colouring whatever you call it. Be proud to be ginger.
