i bite my fingernails very rarely, but my 2 year old girl caught me once and now she does it everyday. she bites them to the skin & it grosses me out, plus it's just a bad habit for her at this age anyway. any ideas to getting her to getting her to stop?

theres a nailpolish you can buy. its clear and it tastes disgusting. considering she's only two and still developing, the taste of it will definatly make her stop. if she doesnt, really stop yourself and enfoce her not to. if she starts so young, it could get really gross at a really young age

you could paint her fingernails- paint doesnt taste very good. Or you could tell her that if she doesnt bite her nails for a week, you will paint them- make it a challenge for her it may not be a habit yet, just something that she can do to be like you. AND you need to stop biting your nails (at least in front of her). There's this really gross tasting stuff that you paint on your nails like nail polish. I don't recommend it for children, but i used to use it. They only bad thing is you taste it whenever you put your fingers up to your mouth. If you're going to eat something, make sure it's not finger food!
Good luck, and if you're really concerned, you may want to take your daughter to a doctor. I know that for adults, nailbiting is a "nervous habit" and if your daughter is nervous about something, you may want to get professional help since she's only 2

Speak to her pediatrician and see if he has any recommendations. I'm 27 and I still bite mine and I expect to the rest of my life as I don't see it as a big deal. But, if she's biting them to the skin, her pediatrician should be consulted.

"Stop that Bite"! It's a nasty nailpolish that tastes terrible. I bought it at Wal-Mart.
