If you are on the antibiotic Amoxycillin then the course is usually anything between 3-10 days. The average being 7. This is because you probably have an infection in the gums and it would be a big risk to remove the tooth whilst the infection would be there as it then has a site to spread further into the blood stream. If you are looking for pain relief then the best thing I suggest you take is a Non Steroidal Anti Inlammatory such as Ibuprofen combined with Paracetamol. This will reduce the swelling your tooth is causing in the gums. The pain will probably be reduced about half an hour after taking the tablets. Ibuprofen needs to be taken with or after food. No more then 1,200mg in 24 hours and about 8 hours between each. The Paracetamol should be taken in 1g quantities and should not exceed 4g in 24hours, otherwise you will have bigger problems then a tooth ache. There are contra indications for people who are pregnant with the Ibuprofen, but if you speak to the pharmacist they will be able to tell you what dose they recommend instead. It is to be used with caution when pregnant.

The amoxycillin may not be working. Suggest you see your doctor again immediately as you may need to change to a different antibiotic. You cannot take tetracyclines and some other drugs in your pregnant state. It is best therefore that you see the doctor for advice.

honey, as i answered you question a while a go, there is no other pain killer that is right for you. aspirin and ibuprofen, these are the pain killers are not suitable for pregnant women like you. amoxillin, its just an antibiotic not a pain killer. antibiotic, possibly work 1 to 2 hours after taken.

They take about 48 to take effect, but they stop the infection you can take paracetamol for the pain as well, you CAN take the two together as your pregnant your very limited to what you can and can't take. But make sure you finish the course of antibiotics.
Good luck.

You should normally feel the benefit within 2 - 3 days but the full course of treatment must still be taken.
