Your dog has tape worms (assuming they look sort of like grains of rice). Your dog will not die in a week or two, but you really need to treat him because the tape worms will prevent him from receiving nutrition from his food. He may get skinny and his coat will start to look dull. Your vet can treat him for these worms and do a fecal test to look for whip and hook worms also. She will probably suggest a heartworm preventative as well.

Yes he will be fine for another week or so.
But he definatly has worms.. Sounds like either hook or round worms .. . Meds aren't expensive.. but they will need to run a fecal test & probably do an examination of your puppy..
DO NOT BUY OVER THE COUNTER WORMER Alot of it IS NOT SAFE!!! & Also There are different kinds of worms & they don't treat them all! Only a fecal test can tell you what kind of worm it is! Also let your vet know what you saw & what they reminded you of. Cuz certain worms if in the right stage (not producing eggs at the time) will not be detected by the fecal test.
IF YOU HAVE OTHER DOGS KEEP THEM SEPERATE & BE SURE TO SCOOP UP HIS B.M. & have them go "potty" in separate areas! If other dogs come in contact with his B.M. they can contract the intestinal parasites. Also people can get them! Gross I know. Just don't go walking out where he goes bathroom in your bare feet!
God Bless & hope this helped

go to the store and buy some wormer. Easy fix. Does your puppy have a large round belly? That is usually a key sign to worm belly. Wormer from the store works well.

The peculiar mouth odour referred to as "puppy breath" is a good indication of intestinal worms. All puppies have worms and for this reason are repeatedly de-wormed until 6 months of age. Intestinal worms that can infect your dog include roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms, including hydatid worms. The puppy worm may infect humans, therefore it is a must for young children to wash their hands after touching your new puppy. Worm infestation can lead to serious problems in a dog, so it is important to employ a preventional programme at a young age. Young puppies are usually treated fortnightly; adult dogs should be treated every three months.

dogs can get several types of worms: tapeworms, hookworms, roundworms, whipworms..etc. It is probaly roundworms...common in puppies, tapeworms are pretty common as well, but they usually come out in small segments and look like little grains of rice. You need to get the dog diagnosed by the vet...as some dogs can have more than one type of worm. Bring in a stool sample when you see the vet so they can treat your puppy correctly. Be aware that some worms can be transmitted to humans depending on the type your dog has, so be extra careful about washing your hands and not walkin barefoot until you are able to get him de-wormed.

Hartz sells worming pills in the grocery store pretty cheap, but I think that they only prevent worms not cure them. Worms eat all the nutrients out of food you give him. I'd say if he looks healthy he could wait a week max. But, if he's sickly looking, you should take him in asap. Good luck. I hope puppy is feeling better soon. Also, I really don't think this could be heart worm. They wouldn't be coming out of his butt.

Its not that uncommon. Most puppies have worms. The vet should give you some deworming medicine. Its a powder you'll put on his good, or atleast thats what my vet gave me for my dog. You should probably get him in as soon as possible. If you call the vets office they may not make you pay for a visit, you'll just have to pay for the medicine. You might want to try petmeds.com to see if they have anything, make sure whatever you use if for puppies or formulated for your dogs weight.

A lot of puppies have worms. Just call the vet, they will check him out and give you a medication for it. Boom, all gone. Don't worry, it is common. Enjoy your new best friend.

those are tape worms. you need to bring ur puppy to a vet as soon as possible. tape worms live in the intestines and absorb all the nutrients that ur dog eats so essentially your dog starves to death. the younger the animal to more quickly they can fail. if he has tape worm he prob has other intestinal worms and should be professionally wormed by a vet. he also needs his vaccines.

Call a local animal shelter and see if they can direct you to a low cost vet clinic. Your puppy needs to be seen by a vet asap or he will get worse - and the bill for you will be higher.
