Every year I buy school supplies and I never know why I spend so much money and my parents wonder why too.

Your school supplies should match the list prepared for each class or your school -- and NOTHING More!!!! That is why costs rise so dramatically -- folks are getting things not on the required listings and just buying anything and everything.

I used to spend sooo much money on things I don't even need.. like pencil sharpeners and tons of erasers and packets of lined paper. Now that I'm older, I don't even make school supply shopping a big deal anymore. I go to school first and then find out the items I need because even though I go school shopping early, I will need to do it again anyways because teachers demand so much now. & that way I won't waste so much money on school supplies even if they are cheaper now during the year.

It's so tempting to go buy tons of stuff before school starts, but then you just have to make another trip once your teachers tell you what you actually need for each class. Then, you're making two trips to the store, each time buying necessities AND impulse purchases.

The best thing is to go to the first few days of school with one notebook, a few things to write with, and a backpack. Once you have a comprehensive list of what you need, take that list with you to the store and buy only what you really need.

Good luck!
