I saw on TV a long time ago a museum in the City that featured contemporary art, music, etc. where people could interact with the mediums and whatnot. The whole atmosphere felt very chill and relaxed. It might've been in Brooklyn.

If anyone could narrow it down for me and identify possible places which fit this description, that'd be great. While you're at it, also suggest other cool museums! Thanks.

I have no idea which museum you are talking about but found this list, maybe you can figure it out from there? Looks like they have some really cool looking obscure ones:

I visited NYC a year ago Christmas and it was way too cold for this California girl so I spent a lot of time in the nice warm museums. The Metropolitan was beautiful, I was there for 7 hrs and I don't think I even saw 1/4 of the stuff. The Museum of Natural History was much the same way - 6 hrs and I barely touched all the stuff in there. The Guggenheim was great too and not quite as intimidating, more modern looking.

Get there early the minute they open and avoid the weekends, the crowds can get pretty unbelievable.

There are a lot of good museums in NYC. I always give people the link that BabyRN listed above.

The art museum in Brooklyn usually has interesting shows that you might not see elsewhere.

Before you go to a specific museum, check their web site to see what the current special exhibits are. More than once we've gone to the Guggenheim and found out that they were in transition between two major shows.

Note: MOMA is free after 4:30 on Friday. That gives you 4 hours to see the collection which is adequate time.

That depends what you're looking for. I haven't been to a museum in the city for a few years.. But I remember I always liked the Museum of Natural History, it was just interesting to me and always fun. I liked Metropolitan Museum of modern art (moma) and I bet it's changed A LOT since I last went so you're sure to find something interesting there.

Museum of Modern Art. Also, if you're in to TV, try the Museum of Broadcasting. They have individual booths where you can view classic TV shows - commercials and all. Plus they have cool exhibits.
