talk to him, understand where he's coming from. No one seems to be, or he wouldn't want to run away. Things in life do get tough and we all want to run away from our problems instead of facing them and dealing with them. Teens don't feel that they have that kind of control of their lives because our guardians or parents or other relatives seem to PICK on us...well them.I used to hate being home when I was a teen, My step mother was very abusive in every way to me and I started to get into a lot of fights in school and around at home. I started not caring and got into a lot of drugs and alcohol. I almost ended up dead and almost killed a lot of people when I was younger, because of all the anger and hurt in my heart. Than one of my older sisters came up and got me took me to her home in another town...and it helped me a lot. It felt good being a little independent, I earned my own money...lots of it and in a good way. I wasn't getting into fights or in trouble any longer and I truly felt loved and like someone understood me. It felt good having someone in my corner for a change.

When my niece wanted to run away, my husband helped her pack. As she was packing, he kept telling her more things she needed, like a blanket, more than one or two pair of shoes since she will be doing a lot of walking and will wear out her souls quick. It ended up, she had her bag so full and stuff tied on the outside, he helped her sit on it to zip it, when she was done, she couldn't carry it. That may work for some. Others it may not, you may have to share some deep things about your self. Sometimes people can not see that things in their life may come from decisions they make themselves. Young people seem to want to run when things get bad for them. They don't realize they did it to themselves. Sometimes they have no control of their situation. Try to get him to talk to someone professional. Tell him how much you love him and really don't to be without him. If he was on the street you fear something could happen to him and you don't know what you would do without him.

You can't really stop anyone from running away. If they're going through tough times, maybe it's best for them to run away take a vacation from all the anxiety. After he's cooled of a bit it'll be easier to talk to him and help him. It'll be hard to let go but sometimes that's just what you have to do.
