The Bible says "Time and unforseen occurance befall us all." God can know all he chooses to know, but for the most part he prefers not to know everything in order to give us free will. He wants you to choose to follow him and he sees the big picture enough to know it is to your advantage to do so.

He is awfully wrong. NOT everything is in God's plan.
It is true that God has a plan but on the grand scheme of things not on the specific level. For instance, in the old testament, the EXODUS. He willed it. He sent His only Son to die on the cross to redeem the world and as the fulfillment of the prophesies. He said not everyone will inherent the kingdom of God. So did he plan for specifically each of those guys (Misters X, Y, Z etc) to go to hell? If yes, then there was no need for faith because everything is set to run each own course and nothing can be done about it. Jesus' death on the cross wasn't for ALL then but for ALL who were already chosen. whynotaskdon is a confused old man.

I believe in free will and personal responsibility. Look at all the druggies, rapists, murderers, child molesters, homeless people, racist bigots, and so forth. Did God intend for those people to be like that? If that is part of God's plan...why? Didn't such people make the bad choices? I have faith, but I also believe that we have the ability to make decisions on our own.

Lona, that's so humorous because when I requested a question about not with the flexibility to hit upon a pay telephone the different day, a minimum of two human beings advised me the position to purchase affordable cell telephones (one in all them extremely enthusiastically recommending a particular type) even in any case of two times in the question i discussed that I actual have a cellular telephone, notwithstanding it wasn't with me on the time. on the different hand, i have been accountable of a similar difficulty, study the darn question incorrect, responded, then realized later I had missed the point. My undesirable!

I think of God's plan as more of a guideline, a general direction he wants things to go in. Coincidence and Luck rely on a thing called chance. It is my belief that God uses chance to direct things back on the path which he wants them to go. This does not mean that there is no free will. On the contrary, there must be free will, or else God would have no need of chance to direct his plan. Do you think God wanted Adam and Eve kicked out of the Garden? It was their free will, and they were responsible. As to the question of how God knows what you are going to do, you have to realize that God lies outside of time. If God created Time and Space, he must lie outside of both, yet can intervene in both. For each dimention, there is a dimention outside of that dimention. Out of line lies a plane, out of a plane lies a cube, and out of a cube lies time, and out of time lies? Well we don't know, but that's where God is. He can see all of time as we see all of a picture. Does this mean that we don't have free will? Just because god sees the outcome, does this mean that we can't change? Only God knows.

I think it means the worst of all worlds. It could be in God's plan for me to go to hell. I'm not in control of my actions since everything's mapped out, but I'm held responsible and suffer the consequences.
Seems simplistic, but it's something I keep coming back to when I consider religion. It's funny that I consider that same argument effective for the opposite cause.

I believe there are things God has planned for us. We have free will to choose what to do or how to respond. No matter what we ARE responsible for our own actions.

God gave you a free will and you are responsible for your actions because He also gave you a conscience so you know instinctually right from wrong, but since God is omniscient he knows exactly what you're going to do before you even think about doing it.

I believe we have a choice and that choice directs our lives. There are many choices we will make before we die and we all know that all of them arn`t always going to be the right ones.I believe God does have a plan and that we are part of it,but we still make our own choice to serve God or not.We chose what we will do with our lives.

Well Don is incorrect.... why??
(Deuteronomy 30:19-20) 19 I do take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against YOU today, that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the malediction; and you must choose life in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring, 20 by loving Jehovah your God, by listening to his voice and by sticking to him; for he is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell upon the ground that Jehovah swore to your forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to give to them.”
The above scripture shows that they had the freedom of choice.... just like Adam and eve did....just like Satan did...
God wants us to worship Him of our own free will, not because he is forcing us to!
