It means that being around this person (the "you" reference) causes the person making the remark "immense" emotional distress ("pain"). It is metaphorically represented by the "sequence of catagorized hurting, heartbroken relationships at immense". The part about "you remind me of pain" is sort of an irony, in that we (humans) have a psychological mechanism that allows us to block or not remember actual pain, just a disassociated memory of an action that can effect pain. Such as putting a hand over a flame...we know that we can be burned (everyone knows how that feels), but don't feel actual pain when we associate the the image of the flame with the potential outcome of a physical encounter with it. In this case, I think the sight of the person in question actually causes them to feel the actual "pain" from all their heartbreaks and failed relationships. Whoa... not good.

Being with you reminds me of my past and the pain is so immense that when I look at you, you remind me of the pain.

Being with you reminds me of my past relationships which I categorized or could categorize (place in order based on the types of hurtful relationships they were)

and when I look at you, you remind me of the pain they caused me so I can't be with you.

Out of context, no it does not somewhat. there's a asserting that doing something nasty can leave an onlooker 'with a foul flavor of their mouth' and doubtless the implication is which you are going to be able to desire to do sturdy issues which you will no longer have a foul flavor on your mouth. the 2nd section refers back to the Catholic education of going to a clergyman to admit sins.
