Was Jesus taken to Caiaphas or Annas first?

Matthew 26:57: And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and elders were assembled.

Mark 14:53: And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

Luke 22:54: Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house.

John 18:13: And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.

Who was Jesus taken to first?

No, Annas wasn't THE high priest. According to the Mosaic Law, the title of High Priest could never be removed. He didn't have the authority that Caiaphas had. He may have been called a high priest, but he wasn't THE high priest.

It's also erroneous to believe that during the time of Jesus, there were two high priests, when throughout the rest of Jewish history, there was only one.

At the time of Jesus there were two high priests: Annas and Caiaphas. Luke 3:2 says, "in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness." Also, Acts 4:5-6 says, "And it came about on the next day, that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem; and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of high-priestly descent." John 18:19 says that the high priest questioned Jesus and then in verse 24 it says that Annas (supposedly the high priest of verse 19), sent Jesus to Caiaphas who was, as we have seen, also High Priest. Furthermore, when Matthew 26:57 says that Jesus was led to Caiaphas, it is not denying that He first saw Annas.

Therefore, Annas saw Jesus first and then He was sent to see Caiaphas.

Annas, but Caiaphas was probably right there too.
Caiaphas was the ruling high priest A.D. 18-36, though Annas (high priest A.D. 6-15) continued to exercise weighty influence.

A small inner circle of high priests, headed by Annas and Caiaphas ruled Jerusalem regardless of who was officially the high priest

According to Jewish historical records Annas was taken away from the priesthood due to extreme cruelty.

Why do you believe the bible? It's nothing but a fairy tale, at it's full of contradictions.

Wow another instance of biblical contradictions. Almost makes you think it was written by someone who wasn't omnipotent.... like maybe a person? Oh ****, am I going to hell now?
