Well, you got part of what they say right. The Bible says that a man is a soul not that he "has" a soul. It also says that when a man dies, the soul dies, just as if a man is a doctor, when he dies, the doctor dies. Jehovah's Witnesses do not say when you die your soul goes back to the creator--that would be a lie. You have misunderstood or been misinformed. They do say that only 144,000 will go to heaven because this is also what the Bible says. It says that the 144,000 have been "bought from the earth" to rule as kings and priests with the Christ. It also says that "the meek will inherit the earth". Jesus prayed for God's will to be done on earth--surely he will answer Jesus' prayer.

I think they're a little confused about the army of 144,000 the Book Of Revelations talks about. Who will go forth and save the world at the last day. Every human who has ever lived on the earth has the right to return to the Father who sent them here to earth. How ever they have to accept the Savior who died on the cross that they might be forgiven of their sins before they can be received into Heaven. I believe if one counted all the people who have died since Adam & Eve and have accepted Jesus as their Savior. There would be allott more than 144,000. Why would they not all receive the gift of Redemption promised in the Bible? Why don't they beleive what's written there? If the Bible says there's a hell where you burn then there must surely be! If God lives in Heaven and he is the creator then, How could there be only 144,000 of the earths population that make it back to him? You just can't have it both ways. I think they've missed a few chapters somewhere!

I see that a lot of people here whose eyes are blinded to the truth, it is true only 144,000 people from every nation, people, and tongue are annointed by God to serve as priests in heaven and as associate kings with Christ Jesus and they will rule over the earth, the rest of righteous mankind live on earth forever. There are many scriptures that state this. Hell is not a place of torment, but is the common grave of mankind as you read in Revelation that all those dead in hell will be resurrected from there. Both the righteous and the unrighteous. And hell is cast into the lake of fire which the Bible calls the second death. A place where there is no chance of a resurrection. People do not have an immortal soul, the Bible says God alone is immortal, but God is going to give immortality to Christ Jesus and the 144,000. What returns to God, Jehovah, is a persons life force, or the spark of life that animates you. It has no personality or any traits of the person in whom it is. It returns to Jehovah in the sense that all hope of everlasting life for you now resides with God, as he is the only one who can return it to you, and he will do this through Jesus Christ.

There are many things I disagree with that the JW says and teaches. I don't know where they pull this 144000 from but in the last days God's' angels will mark and set apart 144000 from the twelve tribes of Israel (Revelation chapter 7, see source below). These are Jews and I mean bloodline Jews not Jehovah's Witnesses. As for the afterlife I believe there will be life after death but not physical life but that our internal spirits that dwell within our bodies will leave our bodies upon death and transcend into the spiritual world and face Judgment at some point afterwards. There is not enough room here to refute their many beliefs but I would caution that what they say sounds good and they can use scripture to make what they say sound good but it is taken out of context and not telling the truth of the Gospel. God's Holy Spirit will reveal the Spiritual truth to a true believer without someone telling them what is right and wrong.

Turn to your Bible. The answers are there. God is a great God. I believe even though I practice a specific religion, anyone who is doing their personal best to have their strongest relationship with Him will be with him eternally. I studied with the JW several years ago when I was searching for a religion that would fit me best. I quit when I was told that my grandpa, who was a reverend for over 50 years of his life probably would not make it into heaven. Ha!!

I probably shouldn't try to deter you. God has a specific plan for you, and it may be with the JW.

Anyway, my advice is to keep searching for a church you can call home, if you feel the JW is not for you, and in the meantime, pray, pray, pray.

A little story I like to believe is true:

After death, an angel was walking a man around heaven showing him around. They came to a door that was locked. The man asked the angel what was in the room, but the angel told him it would be best if he left it alone. After insisting for several minutes, the angel finally relented and unlocked the door. The man opened the door and swung it wide. The room was so tall, he could not see the ceiling, so deep, he could not see the back, and so wide, he could not see either side. What he could see, was what the room was filled with. Boxes. Billions and Zillions of boxes. The man looked at the angel and asked him what the room was. The angel looked away, then looked the man straight in the eye. Then he told him.

This is the room where God put all the blessings he had planned to give you during your lifetime.

The man was so happy!! He had no idea he was so blessed!!

The angel looked at the man and shook his head. You don't understand, he told the man. These are the blessings you never asked for.

Pray. Ask for blessings. Ask for help in your quest for answers. God has an amazing ability to use others to answer your prayers. If it is a blessing He has planned for you. When you have problems you think you're drownding in, pray for God to simply help you, and He will. In His way.

Good luck and God bless!!

Revelation 14:1-3 talks of the 144,00 who have been bought from the earth to rule as kings in heaven with Jesus. Revelation 21:1-4 Speaks of a new heavens and a new earth and how god will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.
Why would god be getting rid of death if we were all meant to die and go to heaven???
If you really want to know why JW's believe what they do...then you need to go to the official website www.watchtower.org
You will find the answers to your questions there.

Jehovah's Witnesses understand heaven to refer to the dwelling place of spirit creatures such as Jesus and the angels. They understand the Scriptures to teach that exactly 144,000 humans will join Christ Jesus as kings and priests to administer God's Kingdom (which will soon replace all earthly governments).
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
(Revelation 14:1) Lamb [Jesus] standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand
(Revelation 20:6) they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him

Over whom will they rule? Over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”

Hell is NOT someplace/something mankind needs to fear; there is no suffering in the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

Almighty Jehovah God selects those few who have the heavenly calling. Each person "feels" his own hope and each person's hope remains unquestioned by his fellow Christians. Still the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%*) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

Yes this is true, only a 144,000 are going to heaven, they are going to be like how guardian Angels are to us now, only we will be able to see them. Now about hell, look at it this way, if you had a child, and he/she did something bad, would you put their hand in a pot of boiling hot water? Of course not, so why would Jehovah put his children in hell? His son Jesus paid our ransom, he forgives us 700000 times a day, (but this also doesn't mean that we should go out and kill someone) Pray to Jehovah, to help you also understand.

Why do they say the things they say ???????

Because it is what the Bible says.

(Revelation 7:4) . . .And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel:

(Romans 6:7) 7 For he who has died has been acquitted from [his] sin.

Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.

Discuss??

They also do not believe that Jesus Christ reigns in all of heaven and earth, yet that is the scripture one line before "the great commission" in Matthew that they love to point at. (Matthew 28:18 NIV - "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me")

If you read their translation of "the bible", there are whole passages missing, and verses at best in other places. Just a blank line there in the place of the words.

I wouldnt get too confused over what they say. I have a very dear friend that is JW, and I am Christian - just read the bible for yourself and find Truth.
