I'm so sorry that you have to bear the brunt of financial responsibility in raising your children..........Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot you can do, but dead beat dads DO go to jail in Ohio.......Not sure about where you live, dear........Keep fighting the good fight and hold your head up high........You have much to be proud of.........

That really pisses me off. I know so many people men and women both that don't own up to their resposibility. I didn't ask for child support (like something stupid) when I got a divorce, but the father is supposed to keep insurance and help with doctor bills. Never has. He won't hardly work either. If he finds a good job he finds some reason to quit. My daughters stepfather keeps insurance on her. Isn't that sad, that her stepdad does that for her when it's her fathers place. And my stepsons mom barely even calls or sees him. Nov. of last year she just up and disappeared for a month, and didn't call or anything. How can people do their own kids like this? You know the bad thing? Someone that really tries will get took to court quicker than some deadbeat parent.

unfortunatley thats a big problem in the u.s. there are a lot of dead beat parents.im 41 and my dad paid 300.00 the whole time my sister and i were growing up did the courst do anything about it,HELL NO.my best friend has two kids both by different dads the girls dad has not paid one cent in the 5 yrs they have been apart and he does the same thing he will start a job and the minute the DAs office finds him he quites his job but hes liveing in another town about 3 hrs from here raising three kids of someone elses.hes such a fricken looser also.now on the other hand the 14month olds dad pays 650.00 a month for him and he also has him 3 and half days a week.so it just depends on the person.oh and the last thing the DAs office said to my friend was do u want to drop the case on the first dad because we can never catch up with him out of all people telling her to give up they should be fired in that office i never heard of such a thing.shes going to get paper and get his rights taken away so he will never have to have anything to do with her.its so sad its always the kids who suffer never the parents

What about the loser parents who have custody and don't use the money on the child? That is the thing that really gets me. When the parent pays the child support and it doesn't go to the child. My husband paid his child support on time every time and his ex-wife used it for herself. His daughter never had nice clothes or toys but the momma had her brand new Tahoe.
And have you tried the child support collections. A lot of times if it brought up to the attention of the state they will keep his state taxes to pay the debt. The state can also with hold his paycheck to pay the debt. Check with your department of human services.

Sweetie, you need to stop venting about it and do something. There are ways to cut through the red tape and actually get him to pay no matter what state he is in or what job he quits to avoid his obligations. Your start is going to be filing contempt for non-payment, then once you do that and have your hearing, he is going to be forced to sign a stipulation requiring him to pay on a regular basis, if he doesn't they'll put leins on his taxes, his vehicles, house if he has one or sit his behind in jail. You mentioned the father-hood program, although a good program, it does not make him exempt from his current obligations. The courts don't see it that way. They know the kids don't stop eating or stop wearing clothes because "daddy" is in a class to teach him responsibility. Go back to court and file your motion. This isn't about you, it's about a need for your children.
I should also add that it costs you nothing to file a contempt motion and you can download the paperwork for free on your states website, look for it under family law.

I have 3 children and their dad would rather be in jail than pay childsupport. 2 years later and I never expect to see a dime. I look at it this way that when my kids are older and have no respect for him being in jail all the time they will have less respect for not supporting them. I can say I was there for everything in their lives and that's all that matters.

I thought that there was some program in Georgia in which child support had to be straight to the court and the court would distribute the money to the mom. If the were delinquent then the state would immediately collect.

I have the same problem....My mother and i would like to start a web site and put every delinquent adult on it with the amount they owe and their last known job and address. I think a little embarrassment would do some good, dont you?

Yea, I have a deadbeat dad myself. Whatever you do, think of your child's emotional needs... It's soooo hard not having a father...SO HARD...
