Two options: tell him how you feel or let it go. If you take option 1 you greatly risk losing a friendship. If you take option 2 you will never forget about him. So get out meet new people and get your mind on new things. It is and will be tough but it is achievable. Think of you two as just friends and nothing else. If this fails then you should tell him and convince yourself that you two will still communicate no matter what. Tell him that you want to keep the friendship intact and that means that you two need to air out problems that may arise from this. If he is unwilling then move on. If you don't move on you will feel worse than you do now.

I think that you should give you two a chance. Because if you do let go, you'll always wonder what could have happened between the two of you. Trust me that was one of the biggest regrets of my life. If you really do want to let go because he told you that he doesn't like you in that way, it takes time but you can keep yourself busy with school, work, and a different boy that you might be interested in although not as much. What you do when you can't have that one special person is you take the next best thing.

You did the right thing because you would have destroyed a good friendship if you had told him how you felt. i've seen it happen too many times. if i could take it back i would but i cant and it cost me a good friend, and i got a baby girl out of it

The best solution is time. Time will heal all wounds.
Initial phase is the most difficult. What I do is to keep myself busy, try not to think about it.
Before I knew it, I've long forgotten about the guy whom have hurt me deeply. At times, I do think about him. But by that time, the hurt is diminishing and will soon be gone.
Its a matter of whether you are determined and strong-willed.
Good luck.

Tell your friend your thoughts and why and how you have come to this decision. Be open and honest. Treat it as a learning experience.
Keep busy, meet new people, and don't dwell on what you did or didn't do. Life is way too short for that.

u dont have to let it go. let it grow into a meaningful friendly relationship something u can nurture and be rewarded with the thought that although it didnt work out for a lovers relationship u still have one very best friend forever.
