Sorry, this is just standard procedure. The SSA will be sending forms out to everyone you listed on your disability report, including friends, doctors, clinics, counselors, and hospitals. Once they get all of your records, they will evaluate weather you have a disability according to their listings. http://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/AdultListings.htm

If they think you don't meet their listings you will get a denial letter. If this happens, as it usually does, make sure you request a hearing to fight that decision. You can request a hearing at the SSA, and they should also give you a list of lawyers that may be able to help you.

Sometimes if they are about to deny your case, but are not sure if they should or not, they will send you a letter and request that you come in to the office to discuss your case. If this happens, you should go, but you will probably get denied. You may want to bring some letters from your doctor with you, that you can request be added to your record, sometimes it helps.

If you do get approved, you will be sent a letter saying that you will be shortly approved and you will need to go into the office to update your record. Make sure you go, because you won't get a final approval if you don't go.

It is rare for people to get approved for benefits on the first try, but it does happen from time to time. Just don't give up if they say you are not disabled, request a hearing. If you win, you will get back due benefits. Good Luck!!!

Don't get too excited....They want to question your friend is standard procedure...since you are just getting the forms to fill out you should do that and then may come the personal interview with a social security person at their office. You have a ways to go just yet....Took me about 6 months for the whole process a few years back. Good Luck and Good Health

Good sign? Hardly. But there's hope. If based on what you disclosed on those SSI forms has them granting you SSI payments, then good for you. If you feel you've been wrongly denied SSI, then I'd seek a good SSI attorney (bear in mind you'll have to pay his cut in legal fees for quite some time) who can help you.

Yes, it's a good sign. I hope your friend is a good friend. If not, they can mess up your chances of getting SSI. You'll have to school your friend on what to put on the questonaire. Also, you have to make sure that you have all your paperwork from your doctors or specialists in order.

It could be a good thing if you are in need of the money. You will probably have to account for your need on some regular basis though.
