As for the flies, try letting him live inside with you. Then the flies won't "eat him up".
As for the bad smell, take him to the vet. There might be an internal problem with him.
Please take care of your pets! They have feelings just like you. They're not meant to stay outside all the time. They have to be with their family inside the house. Their mental health is important and being inside makes them happy.

LOL...I think every dog still smells bad after a bath at home...nothing worse than wet dog smell. The only time my dog actually smells cleans is when i take him to the groomers...I have no clue how they do it. Really makes me mad that i cant get him to smell like that at home. As for the flies...did he recently roll in something?....maybe you need to get a stronger shampoo for him. There are some insect repelents that you can make at home that people use on horses...i assume they are safe for dogs to. One that I found was to mix 18 ounces of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of dish detergent in a spray bottle. Another one was to mix 3 parts water to one part Avon skin so soft oil.....i know this works for humans quite well my aunt uses it. It will also make his coat softer. Hope this helps.

Hahhah the first day we had are dog he dug a hole in the sheet-rock by the front door, ripped all the blinds down in the living room and the dinning room! After that we bought a kennel and that did not work out soo good either! He brook them plastic bottom and rip up all the carpet and padding up! Then we moved him to the laundry room and moved him kennel over to the hamper and tore up a bunch of close! Note this was only day 3! I was about ready to kill! But we got a small 5 by 5 outdoor kennel and placed that in the unity room and anchored it to the wall. Then about a week after that we got a female and all has been happy! Although we still kennel them when we are gone! I do have pic but not at my computer at work! and my male sumo is the hole digger of the family! we have out several hole! he also likes to pee on the tree and then dig up the grass around the tree to cover it up!

A. please check his teeth. So many people forget about this. So many dogs have peridontal disease. "Dog Breath" is NOT normal. It is often a major bacterial infection.
B. He may have a serious ear/skin infection
C. If he is being attacked by flies, there are ointments to protect him. Namely for the tips of the ears.
You need to see a vet to have him assessed. No one can give you an accurate diagnosis over the internet. Sorry. Wish you luck.

My dogs never have flies on them. Maybe there are sores or an infection that are attracting the flies! They will lay eggs on your dog, and the maggots will as you say, eat the dog up!! Take him to the vet.

I strongly suggest a trip to the vet. This sounds like an allergy that has progressed and with the flies paying attention to it this could be getting serious. I would not wait too long as it can develop in gangrene. I know my father's golden did.

YOu need to buy some of the cream stuff to keep the flies off. The flies will get under the skins and lay eggs. You need to clear it up ASAP.

dryer sheets. The best way to keep your dog smelling good and keep the flys away is to rub it down with a fresh dryer sheet while hes still wet from his bath. I know it sounds weird but it works realy well.

If there is a PetSmart or PetCo where you live they will be able to give you the answer. Banifield is the Vet that PetSmart uses. It could be something that he/she ate, it could be the shampoo you using on the dog. Banifield is wonderful with the animals.
