Well, the real America - is the native indian. American citizenship was established by the founding fathers who took the land from the natives. So, a real American citizen is someone who has citizenship either through naturalization or birth. The original American citizens were not born in America and so are just as much an outcast as anyone else living in what is now the United States. You'd really need to be Native American Indian to say that you truly belong here if that's what you're referring to. The native American indians hoped we would go back to Europe I'm sure. The white people were the original illegal immigrants when you're referring to this land. So if illegal immigrants are infliltrating our nation and taking what is not rightfully theirs - that's not unusual really is it?

As far as American citizens go: Almost anyone can become a citizen. Race really doesn't play a role. HOWEVER- after I watched hundreds of illegals pledge their allegiance to their home countries (when they marched under their foreign flags) and/or desecrate OUR flags, saw their crime statistics, and saw their illegitimacy rates- I do not feel that illegal immigrants are people that we should welcome into our country with open arms.

As far as America goes: America was founded by European Whites. (Particularly British, but there were other ethnic groups.) It was European Whites that set up our government, wrote our Declaration of Independence, wrote our Constitution, that fought for our independence, etc. Now:
a. People often say that "Black slaves built America". They did farm work on farms that their White masters owned and worked a few basic trades that their White masters taught them. Well, who built the Erie Canal? (Example.)
b. Some people say that the Indians "made America" and are the real American citizens- They might have inhabited the land mass of North America, but they didn't set up our government or help build up America. (In fact, most were nomadic and/or had no government.) You can almost think of them as a people that lived on the land but were not a part of the country- a very distant relationship that they have with illegals.

P.S. Koolaid Kid, your answer is basically "We all bleed red blood"? So do animals. Are animals our equals? Just a little thought.....

In my opinion, anyone born in the U.S. or becomes a citizen is a "real American citizen." However, the first Americans were the Native Americans because they were the first people of this land.

No I think that law abiding citizens that get in this country LEGALLY!! are American.. no matter if they are from the planet XYZ!

Seriously, I know this country was founded on immigration. But this is a new century. We have to stop supporting the world's poor and start taking care of our own hard working LEGAL citizens!

Oh and you know what! I am quite aware of the fact that Americans stole this land from native Americans but guess what.. it has nothing to do with this. I did NOT steal the land from them.. but my way of life is being stolen from me. We learn from the past... but lets leave it where it belongs.. in the past!

What the hell does color have to do with being an American? Heres a little clue for ya, on the battle field it doesn't matter what color your skin is, we all bleed red, even the enemy. *&%$#@^&*...god save this nation from the ignorant, the unwilling, and the self-centered. I've yet to visit a graveyard that had signs out that said here lies a white american, a black american, a red american, a yellow american, or a brown american. What the hell happened to being just a plain ole Red Blooded American?

I was born on this soil. That makes me an american native and citizen. I pay taxes...that's a strong indicator I'm a citizen. I'd rather be speaking English than German right now, cause if America was never born as we know it, this place would be Hiel Hitler'ing.

No.. just because of the history of America, the indians are the true Americans and we all immagrants to the country.. I think that the indians did get a pretty crappy deal out of everything though.. Although now if you are born here you are considered a citizen which is true, but hte first americans that came here were immigrants..
