There are many lines of Reiki. There is much controversy over which is the true Reiki line of Mikao Usui. You may wish to peruse this site: http://www.reiki-experts.com/
You may want to read about Reiki first. Then find a community of Reiki practitioners. Supposedly you must be attuned by a Reiki Master before you can effectively practice Reiki. There are generally three levels of Reiki, but several Masters teach in levels. Some have been known to teach 12 different levels.
There is a belief that Reiki training must be paid for otherwise no honor or respect is given to the practice. The "easy come, easy go" cliche.
Check in with a new age bookstore and see if they know of a Reiki Community. Many believe that you must receive Reiki sessions before you can understand enough to train for it.
I have read that many hospices may use the services of a Reiki student. There were studies done in the late 80's and early 90's that showed that Reiki was helpful in treatment of those dieing of HIV/AIDS. You may wish to check out Hospices and some hospitals.

You need to find a Reiki master who will train you.
Go to new age shops, witchcraft shops, herbal stores, holistic health fairs. Pick up the free magazines they have there and/or ask the workers. Some of the workers probably are Reiki masters.
But WHY do you want to be one? A Reiki master is someone who teaches Reiki. It's not any kind of mystical thing. If you want to work with the energy you don't have to be a master.

there are as lot of misinformed answers on this question . the problem is finding the right person -that is why u should sincerely pray for the universe to reveal to you the right person to do this .there are quite a few fraudulent people about . find a good teacher --what to look for mmn well why not get them to demonstrate and to give u reiki healing ----you should easily feel this energy , that will give u some measure of their self acting as a channel.....and that is what we are channels for this energy ... forget totaly the word master ---replace with servant .... for that is what you do serve humbly meekly ----not for ego .... be sincere and u will find the right person Reiki, Millions of people are aware of this fantastic healing energy and there are literally thousands of healers [channels for this energy]. There are several sites when you do a yahoo search on Reiki... I was trying to find the site I went to when I got my certification, but, can not find it now. Wish I could be more help.. I had a site listed, but, found that they charge, and the healing gift is something that should not cost money..

I have to agree with Sass B, why bother with this superstitious tripe. This is the 21st century, you're approaching thins in a mediaeval manner - rationality goes out of the window. Why not study real medicine instead? That woud be sof use to the world.
